chjohans 34 Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 OK thanks. Could this be cause by a plugin? I don't see what else it might be so I assume that's what it is?
Luke 42078 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 No, some other app on your network sending requests to your emby server.
chjohans 34 Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 Oh ok. Strange. I do have Emby for IOS, Emby for Roku and 2 Emby for Kodi clients running, so it's very strange if something else makes calls to my Emby server. But I'll keep an eye on this. It would be (very) useful if the source IP of such calls were logged.
chjohans 34 Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 Is Emby for Kodi up to date? Yes, but with the latest stable, not the newer beta.
chjohans 34 Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 What is using "192.168.3.152"? That's a Kodi client.
Luke 42078 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Yes, but with the latest stable, not the newer beta. I think there is a new stable now that has all the beta changes, no? 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Beta and stable are the same at the moment. But I did release a new version that fixes bugs. Can you give it a try and let me know?
chjohans 34 Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 There seems to be no end to my trouble after the "upgrade" to server 4.x. Had to stop the library scan again this morning as my power company was gonna change my power meter. So I stopped the EMby service and did a normal shutdown of the server. When I start the server again it just exits and complains about a DB error. 2019-01-26 11:09:10.440 Info Main: Application path: C:\Users\media\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll years using Emby, and I have stopped the server, not stopped the server and just cut the power, I did all kinds of things to the server without the DB once becoming corrupt. Is this gonna be a weakness with the new Emby version, that its prone to DB corruption? BTW I don't really see any speed increase at all between the old 3.5 and 4.x server versions. I have one server that actually finished initial DB scan and a DB scan takes 11-12 minutes now, and that's what it took on v3.5 as well. Starting up the iOS client on my APple TV takes just as long as before and is just as "sluggish" as on v3.5. I don't really notice any difference in any other clients either. I'm a bit surprised because the performance increase I'm not seeing was kind of hyped when the new server release was first announced. Anyhow, back to my DB issue. Is this solvable or do I just have to start over?
chjohans 34 Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Anyhow I'm sick and tired of waiting days after days for the initial DB scan to finish and since I have my metadata managed by "Media Center Master" anyhow I decided to start over. So this is what I did: 1) Deleted the library.db* files under data 2) Cleared out my old metadata folder which I had moved to a different HD The server started fine and is doing it's initial library scan. Anyhow all my metadata is already in my media catalogs, collected by "Media Center Master". Emby does not even have write access to my media library as I don't want it to mess with it at all. So whatever EMby downloads of additional metadata is stored in the "metadata" folder. I hope this solves all my issues, and I should probably have "started over" to begin with instead of letting Emby convert all my old data. There is really nothing I can lose by doing that.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) Hope you disabled chapter extraction on library scan per library. But mine took about 9 hours for Emby to re-read my xml metadata on my Stable server in my signature. But that was only processing Movies during the migration, would have taken long for all the episodes. . But it looks like your database became corrupted from you previous post. Luke 42078 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Corrupt: database disk image is malformed The most common cause of this is sudden and abrupt terminations of the emby server process, e.g. a loss of power, server machine crashing, killing the process from task manager. When this happens you need to delete your library database and let it do a full rescan. It sounds like it did that. Are you good now?

Yes all is well now after I deleted the library database and whiped out my metadata, it's running the initial DB scan now, at 90.7% done at the moment. Since I whiped out my old metadata it won't get stuck like before I suppoes, and "Refresh Guide" will actually finish now since it no longer has old data to "clean". I did a normal shutdown of the server like I've done many times before. I'm running Emby as a service and I assumed the service manager would signal the Emby process to terminate gracefully on a restart. Is that not the case?
Carlo 4561 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Do yourself a favor and manually copy/backup the data folder every once in a while with Emby shut down. This way you always have a set of known backup databases good to use for a situation like this. It's a pretty small folder in size.

Thanks but unless this becomes a very frequent issue I won't bother with this since I won't lose anything by just deleting the DB file and doing a library scan. If this really becomes a frequent problem I will make a backup script that shuts down the server and backs up the DB files once in a while. I'm already doing a partition backup of the partition Emby is installed on twice a week, and even if it's being done while the Emby server is running most likely I could use the DB files from that backup if I needed to.

Technically you loose all userdata doing this. So you have to have other methods to restore it, if you are deleting the database.

Yeah well, I should have written "I don't lose anything that is important to me". I'm only worried about my played states and I sync that with Trakt.
