Metadata in Folders View Missing & Collections

Using Server 4.0.2, If I choose Movies --> Folders-->Choose a Folder-->Edit Metadata the "Date Released" is not populated.  At same time, if I choose the same Movie in the Movies list, the "Date Released" is populated.  Therefore, the Sort Order will not work within the Folders as well (which makes sense).  So why is the Metadata supplied in Movies but not Folders for all Movies?

Collections:  All my Collections have disappeared.  Selecting Movies-->Collections displays a blank screen.

Also, Selecting Movies-->Filter and choosing "Group items into Collections" makes no changes at all that I can see.

Thanks for your time.

Where do you save your metadata and images?

How are your Collections created?

Does your media have the tmdbcollectionid?

My metadata is saved in my movies folders.  The Collections were created in the Collections Tab in the previous version of Emby Server.  The tmdbcollectionid is present in Movies but not under the Folders view.  There is no option for it in the Folders view!

Has a library scan finished?

Can you so an example?

But to me it sounds like a process hasn't finished or has stopped.  Can you post the server log.

Library has finished scanning.  Attached is a sample of the Movies metadata and the Folder View metadata.  Also, the server log is attached.

Hi ,this is because the movie file and the folder containing the movie are two different things.

Correct, there is no option in Folders view, but there is in the Movies tab.

This is the same as my explanation above. If you drill into the movie folder, then the metadata of the movie will be consistent as you're expecting.

Makes sense.  In that case though, the Sort by Release Data and the Sort by Runtime should be removed as options.  When choosing these options there is an expected outcome which will never occur.

Regarding my second question about Collections.  I created Collections from the Collections Tab in the previous version but NONE of them showed once 4.0.2 was installed.  Also, there is no option to create a new Collection (+ sign used to be present).  Also, when in Movies and choosing Filter-->Group items into Collections, there is no apparent change to anything that I can see.

Check you collection Library settings and make sure the Emby XML option is checked. This may account for the missing collections i had this early on in beta testing which caused me some issues - admittedly more with saving changes to the xml file - so may not work for you.

have you checked .\data\collections to see if collections directories exist?

Collections if needed to be created manually can be done via the ... menu of say a movie and picking "add to collection" - the + sign you remember only gave you a message to do the same and was within a collection view.

Autobox sets plugin is another option

There is no Emby XML option that I can find.  Perhaps you could point me to it.

.\data\collections does have all the directories

I can't add a movie to a collection as there are no collections created, and I can't create one in the Collections Tab (no option to add, which used to be a plus sign to add a collection)

Autobox is not an option I prefer, but thanks for the suggestion.

It is a plug-in that you need to install from the catalog.

But, once your metadata is updated, I suggest converting it to nfo and getting off of the xml.

Do the collections show up in the metadata manager?
