maximumentropy 24 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I'm seeing lots of files showing up in 4.0.0.2 which were previously ignored due to the presence of .ignore files. Is this an expected behavior change?
Luke 42078 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Hi there, can you please go over an example? thanks.
Bamb 0 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Hi, for some reason folders which contain .ignore files will now be recognised on scans.
Chorca 2 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) Having the same issue. I've previously placed .ignore files into directories which per the wiki here https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Excluding-files-&-folders says will have emby ignore the contents of a folder. This was working on 3.5 previously before the update to 4.0, and I found today that Emby has scanned and added all files regardless of the presence of a .ignore file in the directory. Chorca 2 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) I have a folder structure Movies -> Movie 1 -> Movie1.mkv Movie 2 -> Movie2.mkv Movie 3 -> .ignore Movie3.mkv Movie 4 -> Movie4.mkv In this layout, Movie 3 should be ignored by Emby and not be scanned/looked up/available in the library. I commonly use this for extras and temporary folders which I do not want to be scanned and put into the database. In 3.5, Emby would correctly detect the .ignore file and not scan the movie. In 4.0, Emby is not taking this into account, and scans all files/folders regardless of the presence of the .ignore file. Edited January 17, 2019 by Chorca 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) It's still working for me, at least for season folders with episodes as I don't have any ignore files in movies. There are ~5 shows where the next season has an ignore file and none of them are showing. Structure: TV Shows\Game of Thrones\Season 8\.ignore In that folder I have the ignore file and the new trailer in that folder and Emby doesn't show me anything in that folder nor the Season 8 folder either. FrostByte 5392 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Ya, I just tried a movie and it's definitely not working for movies me either

Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Hi, for some reason folders which contain .ignore files will now be recognised on scans. What is the content type of the library you are seeing this issue? @@Happy2Play are you able to reproduce this? With a quick test I only see this on Mixed Content library. note tested on beta 4.1.0.0.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) Will report in this topic instead of the other, there other variables that need looked. What is the content type of the library? Where are you placing the .ignore file? Only failed tests from Mixed Content Movie (item folder). Removing entire sub-folders works, but not a movie. Movie content did not have any issue putting file in movie folder and it being ignored TV content did not have any issue putting file in series folder and it being ignored Edited January 17, 2019 by Happy2Play Merged discussion
Bamb 0 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) @Happy2Play Issue on one movie library and one mixed content library. Series library seems to work correctly. Edited January 17, 2019 by Bamb

jimbobjones 13 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Noticed this as well - been using .ignore files for years and suddenly all these films reappeared
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Just loaded maintenance release 4.0.1.0-1 on Synology NAS and this appears to be working now. Tested library types Photos, Movies, and TV Shows and the ignore file worked for all 3 types. Thanks 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) Haven't tested 4.0.1.0 but tested a beta and only quirks noticed where nested mixed content libraries. All other library level item ignores should work. More discussion here Edited January 21, 2019 by Happy2Play 1
Luke 42078 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. @@Happy2Play has discovered at least one situation still having a problem and we will get to those for an upcoming update. thanks. 1
jimbobjones 13 Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I'm assuming it wasn't meant to be fixed in 4.0.1.0.

jimbobjones 13 Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 (edited) Hi @@jimbobjones, what do you mean by that exactly? Thanks ! Oh, when I saw there was an update 4.0.1.0 I thought this issue might be one of the things that was to be resolved, but the .ignore files are still not working as they should. So I am guessing this fix is still to come. Will you let us know in this thread when it's going to be pushed through or whatever? Edited January 23, 2019 by jimbobjones
Luke 42078 Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Did you run a library scan? If you have run a scan and folders are still not ignored then please discuss an example. Thanks.
