muppets4 24 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Since upgrading to 4.0 server software (Windows) playing my recordings are: - taking a long time to start - if they start at all (timeout errors) - and if they start they play choppy Live TV is playing, but takes a long time to start too. I have this behaviour on the following devices: - Windows Theater - Web client - Android Shield - Samsung S8+ - LG WebOS 3.5 I have added the last part of the server log, in the hope that someone can tell me what's wrong. I use the TV Mosaic plugin, so I will post this in the plugin section too. server.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 How long ago did you perform the update? The update will run a lot of stuff in the background for a while which could be the cause of the TV issues you see. Do you see a lot of activity in your log files?

Server runs on i7-3770. So my guess is that it's not that. But thanks!
Luke 42081 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 As a test, can you try turning off hardware transcoding and see if that helps? Thanks.
muppets4 24 Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 Thanks Luke. Shut down transcoding, restarted server, but problem remains. Theater took 40+ seconds and then choppy play. Lg same.
muppets4 24 Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 Server log from theater playback? here it is. Log.txt
Luke 42081 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 How does this compare with other videos that are not recordings?
Luke 42081 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 It's odd because this is happening even when direct playing, which points to some kind of problem with the recording files. can you try them windows media player and vlc? Although Vlc might not be a great test because it generally handles everything, so if you come back and say it works fine, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to work with other players.
muppets4 24 Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Finally had the time to test. I have tested WMP, VLC and Kodi. And they all work great. Still choppy video playing with Emby (only recordings). The speed difference with Kodi is staggering btw. Channels really change fast and playing recordings start almost immidiatly. I know that Kodi is a different setup, but like Emby it uses the TV Mosaic plugin, that's connected with my server in the attic.
Luke 42081 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Is the recording added to emby as a regular emby library? Or is it going through the tvmosaic channel that gets added?
Luke 42081 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Can you provide a log file from playing it as a regular emby library file? Thanks !
muppets4 24 Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 I don’t know why, but the problem solved itself. Wether it was the update of the server version or the update of the tv mosaic plugin, I don’t know, but it works like before. Nothing in both changelogs that seems related, but happy I am!
