Traveling - what to use when not connected

I used MB2 and moved to MB3 server and classic.  I'm planning a long trip and wont have wireless connection at all times.  With MB2 I had my files on local system.  Now they are all on the server.  I can't seem to find a way for MB3 classic to point to local hard drive.  Is that possible?  If not, what is the recommended way to setup for this usage case?

Install the server on your local machine and take it with you. For more storage, get a small portable drive that plugs into your USB. You can get 1 terabyte fairly inexpensively these days.
