Emby backup Invalid Date

I wanted to try restoring from a backup file (from 3.5.2) to see if that fixed my image issues as posted earlier, but Emby says the date is invalid (even though it's not), and just displays the page spinner.

Please post a server log.

Did you get an updated backup plugin after updating the server?

I didn't manually update any of them, should they update automatically?

Posted

Yes but maybe the task failed.  Look in the catalog to see if there is an update.

They should update automatically, but I would still recommend checking the catalog. thanks.

Edit: You're on 1.3.3 of the plugin so it has already updated.

Ok, can you please try this - please use the plugin to create a new backup. Then can you let me know, does the new backup have this same problem? Thanks.

Well I'm not sure what the hiccup was, but after launching 4.0 today and pointing to an older backup, it appears to accept whatever file I point it to. No date error is displayed and Emby doesn't hang. I didn't actually go through with the backup, since now I know it won't resolve my image size complaint/issue anyway.

Thanks for the quick replies...

What folder have you configured as your backup location? Another user @@tdiguy reported this today saying that he saw the same thing but only when his backup folder was offline. Could that be what happened?

If this is the reason then I think we can improve this by just not allowing you to get that far in the first place, if the backup folder is not even reachable.

My backup location is my D drive and it wasn't offline.

I got (and fixed) the same issue as above. After seeing that it seemed to fix itself after a day or two I decided to investigate. I signed into my emby dashboard on my phone and it came up no problem.  Literally a 10 sec difference, so it isn't entirely time related, but may have to do with the PC.  I was using Windows 7 to make the backup...then used the same PC to connect to the QNAP and got the revolving circle.  Tried with Firefox and then Chrome to no avail.  Logged in using the web address on an android phone (using chrome) and loaded right up.  Hope this helps!

I had the same issue today using Firefox 65.0.1.  Edge would not even load the server but Internet Explorer 11.316.17763.0 with the server added to compatibility mode was able to load the dates and perform the restore successfully.

That's very strange. Thanks for the info.

Hi, I was wondering is there any update on "Invalid Date" restore problem. Yesterday I moved from Win10 to Synology DS218+ and everything seemed to work fine, left it all to update all libreries with fresh install, but today in the morning the Emby was not eccessible from NAS. It was turned off and after trying to turn on seemed to 'think' for a while but was not responding. Since then I have tried several times to do fresh install, it installs just fine but always after trying to restore from backup it says Invalid Date, no matter what browser on Win10. I only saw the restore option enabled with my adroind phone, but after pressing that the wheel just keeps spinning and after some time I need to start from the fresh mby install as it again non responsive. Is there a fix for that?

One more thing no matter if I use Restore 1.3.3 or 1.3.4 and make a 'sample' backup, the same backup on a fresh install also says "inalid Date"

Hi there, we are looking into this.

What browser have you tried to do the restore with?

Hi.  Only local users are backed up.  So, if some of your users were invited via email, those will not be included.

We will be improving this soon.

Thanks.
