4.0 Change - TV Episodes Missing 'Missing' Filter

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The 4.0 update seems to be a nice improvement in speed over 3.5 and that is very welcomed. However one change seems to be how the dashboard displays TV Episodes. First, the list view is gone, which, is annoying, isn't my main complaint. (Though, the list view was very helpful)

Prior to 4.0 there was an option in the filter to display missing episodes. This made it very easy to see what was on last night or last week or anything missing from the library.

Is there any way to filter missing tv episodes as before, or is this just the new normal?

EDIT: I suppose one workaround would be to use reports, show only episodes, filter missing, and sort by release date. I just wish the Reports plugin was much quicker as its not a great alternative to what we had before.

Yes the Reports plugin is the current workaround until a filter can be added again.

What do you mean by much quicker? do you think the reports plugin is slow?

It may have been a placebo thing, or just fixed with 4.0.

Prior to 4.0 the reports plugin would take a long time for filters to take effect when using a large dataset like episodes. That time seems to be much quicker after the 4.0 update, so a workaround I can live with for sure.

One other filter-related question, if the filters are going to be worked on in the future as Happy alluded to, could other Emby clients see changes in that area as well? For instance when using the Emby Android app on a Fire TV, there is no way to filter movies or shows outside the given choices of Favorites, Upcoming, Genres... So some members in my family have used the web app to filter the tv studio of all "BBC" shows into a collection or genre, which wouldn't be needed if they could just filter by studio on their own device.

We are working on making all apps consistent with the web app filters. It will just take a little time. Thanks.
