Prioritizing Recordings

Is there any way to "prioritize" recordings in Emby?  I want to set a priority so if there is ever a conflict, it will record the more important show.  Having come from Media Center, I was able to do this, Plex also has a way to do this, but I don't see a way to do this in Emby.

So if you have 2 recordings going lets say from 8p to 9p, and one of those isn't scheduled to end til 9:01 (thanks CBS) and you have 2 more that start at 9:00pm and run until 10:00pm, how does Emby currently deal with the 1 minute overlap?  I only have 2 tuners BTW.

Need to better understand how Emby deals with conflicts in the Recording schedule.

Currently there is none, so it will try them in order and if some fail then this is logged and everything else will continue. Recording conflict management is all planned for the future. Thanks.

so in the example I gave, will it still start the 2nd 9:00pm recording at 9:01 when the previous 2nd recording stops?

Assuming you have two tuner slots, then if all of this is happening on just two channels, then it will all fully record.

 

If three different channels are involved, then one of the 9pm recordings will initially fail, but then it will retry one minute later and it will be fine after that. I had forgotten to mention that earlier. When a recording fails (for any reason), it will retry every minute for up to ten minutes until it is able to start recording.

Apologize for all the questions, but having been with Media Center for the last 14 years, it's been a bit of an adjustment these last few weeks.  I've been testing both Emby and Plex side by side, and I really do prefer Emby over all, the Roku apps seem to work more reliably than Plex, and the Theater app is FAR better than the Windows Plex app, the only shortcomings I see right now is the issue in this post, and the streaming live recordings thing, which doesn't seem as solid yet, which I use every night to watch the news, but that's another post.

With MS stopping the EPG, I wanted to use Emby instead. I had bought Emby Premiere in December 2018, and used it only for my movies, so I get all my shows setup in the DVR and then find there is no recording priority. A show stopper for me as I use cable cards and only have a 3 tuner HDHomeRun PRIME for Emby so I cant throw more hardware at the issue. If the HDHomeRun PRIME 6 ever is released I'll be good, but who knows when that will happen if at all. I don't need priority recording like Plex and others...where each show has a priority...but a method of priority for channels. I would want that my local channel TV show that is only on once gets recorded while cable channels are recorded later. Maybe under channel map we could choose high, mid and low priority channels. I realize that a full solution may not happen for a while, but a basic channel priority would help me out.
