Local Media Files as a Metadata source

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I request that local media files be added to the list of metadata sources for a given library. That way, we can include local files (such as posters) when we prioritize what source we prefer to override what other source.

Secondly, I request that local media files support more than one poster file (eg. poster-1.png, poster-2.png, etc.) and that these local images appear in the Edit Images page for a given entry. In this way, we can switch from using this locally stored poster to using that locally stored poster on the fly.

Also, if one were to pick a scraped-from-the-web poster from the list of images in Emby, it could maybe not overwrite other custom local posters.

I ask for this because, when building my audiobook library, I found various covers that I like and I sometimes like to switch between them. However, these covers are not, and would not be, available from a source that Emby would ever scrape, and therefore I keep copies of them on my server. I would like to be able to specify in Emby whether I prefer my local posters over ones scraped from an online source, and to be able to pick between multiple local posters that I then have stored.

Currently local posters always take priority. There is no way to change this but it's possible for the future. Thanks.

Well, at the very least, I would like to be able to pick between multiple local posters that I then have stored, perhaps with them showing up as options in the Edit Image window.
