I've checked (in the server dashboard/settings) that it should automatically use Intel QuickSync HW-transcoding when there is a HEVC video playing. But when i start to play a HEVC video in the client. it starts to direct play.Not sure if this is because the setting in the client is at 100mb/s bitrate max. But if i change setting in the client, when the video is playing, to 40mb/s bitrate max. It starts to transcode. But with a lot of buffering. So that takes me two issue number two.. 2. I got buffering when transcoding HEVC: So regarding the number 1 issue, im not sure it actually use HW-transcoding. And if it do. Why do i get buffering? The PC (server) should handle it. PC Specs: Intel NUC NUC7i7BNH Intel Core i7-7567U 3.5 GHz Kaby Lake CPU Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 Samsung 960 Evo M.2 2280 PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) SSD CRUCIAL 16GB KIT (8GBX2) DDR4 NON-EEC 1.2V SODIMM RAM Intel I219-V Ethernet (with 1gbit LAN) Driver/software versions: Windows 10 - version 1803 (OS version 17134.523) Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 - version 25.20.100.6471 BIOS - version BNKBL357.86A.0063 Emby server - version 3.5.3.0 Emby client (Android TV) - version 1.6.56g Emby client (iOS) - version 1.7.2 Not sure which logs are relevant.

Thanks. well its quite hard to get the right log when it creates 3 logs under the timeperiod i was trying to play the video.

So sorry, but i cant get you any logs. btw, i dont have a 4K projector.

They might still be there at: C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\logs or similar. The one of interest starts with 'hardware_detection...'

The "Emby Tray" folder is empty. The "Emby-InstallLogs" folder has a "server-install.txt" file inside. Thats all. When i uninstalled it i chose to remove all traces of emby (as i always do when i uninstall stuff i dont want anymore). So i guess thats why. They are very responsive and will quickly assess if it is an issue that they can resolve for you. Krs Mark 1

I'm just testing Emby out on a new computer and seem to be hitting this same issue when attempting 4k transcodes with quicksync. My CPU is an i7-8700 running on Windows 10 with the latest Intel DCH drivers. Moved over to the latest beta now to see if any better, but hitting the same issue. The root of the problem is that under Linux there is support for QSV zero-copy using VAAPI but under Windows there is not yet. So im wondering, since the last time i tried Emby, i couldnt hw-transcode. Is there any work beeing done to make this work? (i mean, updating FFmpeg) so QSV zero-copy using VAAPI works on windows? So we, using the server on windows, can use HW-transcoding.
