AmericanCrisis 28 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I know subtitles is a very complicated subject. Let me explain what I'm trying to accomplish: On my full rip .mkv files I have subtitles that work on every device - the .mkv media files are no problem. The re-encoded .mp4 files I have told (I think I did it right) Handbrake to look for "foreign audio scan" and then checked both "forced only" and "burn in". I believe doing the aforementioned allows Handbrake to "burn in" the "flagged - forced" subtitles into the .mp4 file. I have yet to confirm this though as I do not believe I have re-encoded a file yet that has a foreign part in an English film (that isn't already hardcoded). Ok so what I am trying to do is get the server to download and have available English subtitles for those .mp4 files that have been re-encoded. When I go to playback the .mp4 file the subtitle option is not there like it is for the .mkv file. I have gone into each media library folder on the server and configured the library to download subtitles. I have downloaded and installed the subtitle plugin and created an account. I have manipulated the scheduled task to download subtitles, etc., but still - no subtitles. Am I missing something? I would like the client to have subtitles with the .mp4 files because those files are the most likely to direct play. Any suggestions?
Luke 42083 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 HI, have you tried using the manual subtitle download function for one of these videos?
AmericanCrisis 28 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 HI, have you tried using the manual subtitle download function for one of these videos? Hey thanks, no I didn't know that was an option. Do I need to enable anything on the server for that to be an option? Is this on the "client" side as a function?
AmericanCrisis 28 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 3 dot menu -> edit subtitles Ok got it... I see that now.
