rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) Running Emby on Ubuntu 18.10 using docker. Seems to work well. Did a test recording to make sure that permissions were not a problem. Set about 10 movies to record overngiht (they are all non-drm). Got up this morning and they were all in the recordings tab but the .ts files on all of t hem is between 60 and 80 mb. Have no idea what happened. I tried to look in the logs and didnt' see anything but didn't look closely. Using HDHomerun primes for tv sources. Any thoughts on what I could check to see what happened? This is on latest 3.6 beta btw. 3.6.0.81 Edited December 29, 2018 by rykr
Luke 42077 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log? Thanks !
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 Getting this like this: 2018-12-29 18:10:17.034 Info MediaEncoder: ProcessRun 'ffprobe' Execute: /bin/ffprobe -i file:"/data2/dvr/Tomb Raider (2018)/Tomb Raider (2018).ts" -threads 0 -v info -print_format json -show_streams -show_chapters -show_format -show_data2018-12-29 18:10:17.054 Info MediaEncoder: ProcessRun 'ffprobe' Started.2018-12-29 18:10:17.376 Info MediaEncoder: ProcessRun 'ffprobe' Process exited with code 12018-12-29 18:10:17.379 Error App: Error in ffprobe *** Error Report *** Version: 3.6.0.81 Command line: /system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /config -ffdetect /bin/ffdetect -ffmpeg /bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /bin/ffprobe -restartexitcode 3 Operating system: Unix 4.18.0.12 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Processor count: 8 Program data path: /config Application directory: /system System.Exception: System.Exception: ffprobe failed for file:"/data2/dvr/Tomb Raider (2018)/Tomb Raider (2018).ts" - streams and format are both null: { }
Luke 42077 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 What recording in this log failed, and at what time was it supposed to record? thanks.
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 Not sure I follow. They all did. I can give you a list. Tomb Raider Underworld A Perfect Getaway Fifty Shades Freed Edge of Darkness Underworld Evolution Rock Dog Paddington 2 Pitch Perfect 3 The Mask Maze Runner - Death Cure They al failed with the same error
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 I shut down by hdhomerun docker container but I'm sure it wasn't conflicting last night. Restarted the emby container and it started recording more movies. I'm monitoring them now. I'm now watching college football live so it has no problem reading and playing the streams.
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 It looks like it' s having a hard time playing my movie channels. I seem to have no problems with other channels but HBO, Starz Encore, Retro, etc none of t hem will tune even though they are not DRM at all. I can play them with tvheadend, hdhomerun. Heck I can even play them via VLC. But Emby just spins and spins and then declares int he log that it can't tune it.
Luke 42077 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Not sure I follow. They all did. I can give you a list. Tomb Raider Underworld A Perfect Getaway Fifty Shades Freed Edge of Darkness Underworld Evolution Rock Dog Paddington 2 Pitch Perfect 3 The Mask Maze Runner - Death Cure They al failed with the same error Right I understand, there's just a lot of recordings in this log so it's easier to focus on a single one.
Luke 42077 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Was this file created? /data2/dvr/Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)/Sands of Iwo Jima (1949).ts
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 Yes, it appears to be ok. And I don't see it listed in the log at all.
Luke 42077 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Does it play in an external video player? is the video file the correct amount of time you were expecting?
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 Yes, I just trimmed it with avidemux and stuffed it back into Emby
rykr 11 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 no no. just a couple of minutes before and after movie. that is by design. I trimmed it to just the movie. It was good.
Luke 42077 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 How long was underworld supposed to be? According to the log it started at 5:23, then completed at 7:32. Does that sound right?
rykr 11 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 That sounds right for time. The physical fie size of the .ts file is completely wrong. It's 81MB
rykr 11 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 A bunch more failed tonight. At this point it seems clear that the channels that fail are the channels you would normally think of as DRM protected. Only here they are not. I record them all the time with tvheadend which doesn't support DRM. I can't tune those channels either.
rykr 11 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Stand down. I've discovered the problem. Those channels that have been clear for months have now gone back to DRM controlled.
