BloodyIron 24 Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 So I just discovered that the DTS audio I have in some 4K content I have isn't supported by my Chromecast Ultra, ugh that's annoying to find. Now, on the Emby Wiki it talks about Direct Play (without transcode?) where it lists the Audio codecs supported. However, it doesn't talk about AC-3. I poked around elsewhere and according to Google Chromecast Codec documentation, (E-)AC-3 can pass-through on a Chromecast Ultra, so what's the _actual_ state of Emby sending to a Chromecast Ultra with the audio being (E-)AC-3? Would that transcode? I'm trying to hammer out a way to watch this UHD content without having to transcode at all
Solution Luke 42083 Posted December 27, 2018 Solution Posted December 27, 2018 If your audio equipment supports AC3, then yes, Chromecast can pass it through. What it can't do though is decode it if your audio equipment does not support it. 1
