izoser 0 Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 In a test I can get HFS+ external drives to mount as read only in Lubuntu using HFSprogs. Will this be a problem in Emby server? The long story. I have a mac mini (late 2009) that has become far to slow with High Sierra. All my media (about 18 TB) is on HFS+ formatted external drives. My plan is to load Lubuntu on the mini’s SSD. All new media would go on ext4 drives in the future. I am hoping to use the Mac formatted drives so I do not have to transfer 18 TB of media. Will this work? The new Lubuntu system will only run: Emby Server HDHomeRun DVR (Record Engine) TinyMediaManager Thank you for your help
mastrmind11 722 Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 if you can mount the drives and see the content, then it should work, though I'm not sure how well or if the library monitor will work since the .net core library behaves strangely with non-standard file systems. You might also run into problems w/ permissions if you choose to store metadata with your media when you run a library scan. All of this is of course just speculation since I don't have any HFS drives to test. However, I believe there is an OSX version of the server, so these concerns might already be taken care of? Only 1 way to find out.
