How do I figure out why my video is transcoding?

I had a 1080p x264 FLAC file which I used Sickbeard MP4 automator to convert (which I've done before with other videos and it worked fine and made them playable). However, when I tried this file, it will transcode. Opening the file and checking the codecs in VLC Media Player gives me this. Any idea why it's transcoding? I'm casting to a Chromecast.

check the server transcode logs, or the Emby dashboard, or the stats-for-nerds on screen when it's happening.

The stats for nerds feature inside the video player can tell you the transcoding reason, as can the server dashboard.

There's nothing to fix because everything is working as expected. The device you're playing from does not support h264 high 10 profile and that's why the server is transcoding.

Does this answer your question?

If you want to avoid transcoding you could pre-convert the media into more streaming friendly formats. We have a conversion feature that can help with that. You can learn more about that here:

Ah. So I'm guessing I just need to change the video profile to "high" instead of high 10 and it should fix it. The reason I ask is cause I'm running it on a low power device so it can't handle the transcoding. That's why I ran it through sickbeards to begin with but apparently the default settings let it be high 10.
