Scott750 29 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Sorry if the title looks strange, I wasn't sure how else to name it. I recently added my music collection to MB3. t started out where only a few artits weren't recognized. As I tried to manual find their metadata and delete 1 song within the folder, my "Purchased Music" folder went from showing all the songs it contained to showing nothing. MB3 now seems to want to treat this folder containing other artists as an artist. I've tried rescanning the library manually, deleting all XML files in the folders, renaming the folder to something else and deleting all Artists in the IBN folder. Is there a certain naming convention I need to use for folder just containing folder of music? I tried to break up collection into separate folder like my movies have a Bluray and DVD folder. Also how can I manually save album/artist pictures to the artist folder if metadata doesn't find it or give me an option? I don't see a "folder.jpg" in any but the top folders. Movies I can save "folder.jpg" but not for music it seems. Here are some screenshots and the server log. The pictures show the Purchased Music folder as just Music, but I was trying to see if renaming the folder would change but it didn't. The issue is the same with both names. server-63533787078.txt
Scott750 29 Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Those threads don't really address my issue. My issue is that I have a parent folder containing music folders. Where at one time it listed everything correctly and now mb3 thinks the parent folder is an artist. I just need to know how to tell mb3 that its just a plain folder. I don't have any xml files in that parent directory and I deleted all artist.ml files in the child folders, but it still didn't fix it.
Luke 42078 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Right now you can't, but I will be looking into it soon. Right now it's expecting the artist\album\song folder structure, coming from the top down.
WWWestern 94 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 It is already discussed: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/6333-artist-name-is-initials-issue/ http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/6683-what-is-purpose-of-name-field/
Scott750 29 Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Ok, I'll get rid of the seperate music folders and create just one big one to house all of the music.
Lee 212 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 FYI you can have genre folders then add them separately and that works... Rock>guns n' roses>use your illusion. I have all mine residing in a music folder but just add the genres. This way you can exclude/include whichever for specific users. *not keen on my 3yr old daughter listening to gangsta rap!* Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk
