Roku log in keeps failing??

Hi I could use a little help. My Emby server on my PC starts and runs just fine, I pull up my dashboard page, then start I start the Emby plugin on my Roku. But then whenever i try to log in manually using either of the

2 Emby server addresses located on my Emby dashboard, I get "error, log in failed".  At times, the Emby cursor does appear on the TV but will just keep spinning for a long time. I'm guessing it's searching for a server. This log in problem is frustrating because Emby looks like a very good app and I'd like to use it. Any suggestions? BTW, I have disabled my firewall. Again, this problem only happens when i try to run Emby on Roku.

On my PC it starts and runs just fine.

try uninstalling the roku app and reinstalling it fresh.  i've seen this happen on my ATV boxes if the IP of the server has changed.  reinstalling is the only way i've found to fix it.

Thanks mastrmind, I did try that, numerous times but to no avail. I know it has to be a server/roku connection problem but Im stumped.

Have you tried using your server username rather than your Emby Connect username? Are you running on the local network or remote?

Hey notla I think you hit it on the head! On my dashboard page, if I click on the edit pencil next to what I'm pretty sure is my server name,  a box that says "friendly server name" comes up. I'll try using that name and see what happens. Thanks!   BTW, I am running on a local network.

I thought what @@notla49285 meant was your local username. You can have a different local (to your server) username than what your Emby Connect username is. If you're in your server's settings dashboard, under Users, when you select a user it says "Name" and then "Emby Connect username or email address". The "Name" field is your username for that local server. The "Emby Connect username" is the app.emby.media username connected to it. You can, in fact, have a local username without having an Emby Connect username at all. Not having an Emby Connect account just means would wouldn't be able to connect to Emby if you didn't know what your server's IP address is.

This is what I meant, is this now resolved?

Is what resolved exactly? He's just clarifying how it works.
