djtman 5 Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 I recently began using the Ember Media manager to update my .nfo files, is there a option in Emby to not update/change these files when it scans the library and just read in the existing .nfo file? Thank you.

djtman 5 Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 it is adding the <Dateadded> field to the .nfo, which when it scans makes it the day it imports to the library. I prefer to have latest media display new releases not movies that it recently added. I know there was a feature request to have the choice in what to display as latest media. I don't have the timelord plugin so that's not an option. Thank you for the hint on that. 1
ebr 16195 Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Hi. Each library has an option for whether or not it will save data to .nfo files. Turn it off.

But this will not affect the way the media is imported. The server still applies a dateadded/datecreated into the database. So the only option is which date is more effect, Scan date or date created? Or manually updating dateadded.

I interpreted his situation to be that the external program he was using was adding the dates he wanted into the nfo. If the added date exists in the nfo, then Emby will read it and use it. However, if this is the only reason he is using an external metadata program, I would suggest using our internal one and the TimeLord plug-in since it does exactly what he is looking to do.
