I want to use it to aggregate mixed content - for example a category called Bollywood containing both Bollywood movies and soundtracks.  However, I found that I could not get a custom music channel to work.  I created a custom music channel called Bollywood Soundtracks selecting all albums with genre Bollywood and then another custom movie channel called Bollywood Movies selecting all movies with genre Bollywood.  The custom movie channel shows but not the custom music channel.  Tried music, movie and custom music categories but the same result.  The custom movie channel does not appear to be  filtering correctly on genre.

 

I can however add folders (I have bollywood movies and soundtracks in separate folders) and aggregate them in the category that way.

 

Is what I am trying to do likely to be supported?

The music area, unfortunately, did not get much testing in the alpha phase.  I'll look into it.

Version 0.1.0.4 (of server plug-in) is available.  Fixes the TV Genre view option problem and should improve custom music channels.

... forgive me ebr, im only seeing 1.0.2  mbc plugin level is dev (plugin level on mbs is dev also)

 

im on mbc.157... checked the catalog within mbc as well.. manually made it check for updates... what am i missing?

 

also tried removing the plugin from within mbc and then backing out... then going back in and grabbing from the catalog again.. still gave me 1.0.2..

Web - your MBPlus.Classic plug-in is up to date.  It is the server side that is not.  Since you were on the alpha, you will need to manually install the server plug-in the first time because I manually changed the version numbers so your server version number appears larger than the one available now.

Any chance of having multiple "Next Up" channels? And be able to set specifically which TV shows should be included in each.

 

There's a number of shows I watch with my son, then a different set I watch with my son and daughter and then a another list that all four of us watch together.

Well, it is actually possible to create custom channels for specific named items but that is a little complex and confusing so I didn't expose it in the configuration interface.  With that, however, you could create a custom channel for those particular shows and select "Only Unwatched" and it would probably do what you want.

Okay I have been using it on and off in the past few days. The addition of being able to add media folders, awesome really wanted that. A feature I would like to see added at some point is "Genres" view for custom categories if it is not too much trouble.

 

Overall I don't think you are getting much feedback because you already did a really fine job to begin with. Not much to fix/change, it just works. If I do happen to find some issues, I will be sure to mention them down the line.

I uninstalled it yesterday.

 

I like the idea and the presentation - but it's not really giving me anything usable in my environment. 

 

I hardly ever watch multiple episodes of the same show one after the other (and that's available from "play all from here" anyway).

Never really have the time to watch more than one movie in a row.

 

The killer feature for me is "Next Up" - but as I explained a couple of posts back, I'd really like multiple Next Up channels which only contain a mixture of specific shows each.

A feature I would like to see added at some point is "Genres" view for custom categories if it is not too much trouble.

 

A "Custom" category is intended to be just for media folders and custom channels - a way to customize the presentation of your normal content basically.  But all of the category types are actually pretty customizable.

 

If you want any special views, just create a category that is of the type of View you want to see and de-select the suggestions and latest if you don't want them to show.  You can have multiple categories of the same type and, if you strip away the suggested and latest, it becomes a Custom one with Views of the type you select to show.

I know you want some feedback or any bug reports. So just a quick one I've noticed, when changing the number of 'Suggestion' tiles to display for Movies, from 6 to 3 or 4... doesn't seem to have an effect in MB Plus Classic. Am I doing something wrong?

Indirectly, yes.

 

Select "Only Favorites in Next Up Channel" and then mark the series you would like to show up in there as favorites.
