Hauppauge Colossus 2

Recommended Posts

The reason I am trying this emby out is cause plex not got rid of the plug-in support witch allowed me to watch live tv through nextpvr using my hauppauge Colossus 2 card. Now I noticed that there was native support for hauppauge card this is great. So I thought I would see if it found my Colossus 2 card it does, so I loaded up my xmltv guide and the guide loaded. When I click on a channel to watch though the circle starts but just sits there and does nothing. Noticed that you needed to have premiere account to watch live tv so i got one, still not loading. Dose anyone know what is going on here or do I need to use the nextpvr pluggin to watch live tv?

Thanks.

Just a guess from a non developer, but to use Hauppauge cards and Emby you need to have WIn TV installed (or at least Hauppauge driver and some king of Hauppauge api). Think WinTV is best. Make sure its working and playing stuff using WinTV then check to see if it works in Emby (maybe restart server or re-apply the built in Emby Hauppauge feature).

Or NextPVR should work as well, install NextPVR and make sure its playing in NextPVR, then install NextPVR plugin in Emby and hopefully should be OK.

Thanks for the reply. Everything is working in wintv and nextpvr. I finally got an error emby said no compatible streams available. Not sure why as everything else is working.

Don't know if you tried NextPVR in Emby with the plugin, but if so maybe check in the NextPVR setup you have the url set to the same as that given in the dashboard Home page In-Home (LAN) access, the bit before the 8866 should be the same (or it is for me)...

Maybe try restarting the Emby server and/or re-booting the server machine.

After that you'll probably need to hear from someone who actually knows what they're talking about...

Yes WinTV + Emby will see all HD-PVR model but the one thing you can't not do with Emby and WinTV is that IR Blaster because used less that way with Emby best stick with NextPVR and Emby Plugin unless you have ATSC or DVB card then you need WinTV and you have setup the channel in WinTV then just matter of mapping the channel in Emby.

Can you attach the emby server log from this attempt? Thanks !

I have Emby working with my HDPVR (predecessor to Collusus) perfectly, including the built-in blaster.  There was nothing special about the installation - just make sure you use the latest version of WinTV (mine is v8, newer versions don't work with HDPVR).  I get full HD with 5.1 audio.  I am using SD for the EPG data.  Works perfectly!

Jason or others that have done this on the old HD-PVR can you tell me what settings you tweak inside WinTv?  So far I haven't been able to get it to work although Emby recognizes it.

Pretty amazing functionality ...thanks Luke and others that have made this possible.

NEVERMIND:  I did get it to work with a re-boot of the server but if anyone has experience in optimizing these settings I would like to hear your suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by not able to get it to work?

My guest is that Emby was not see the tuner or channels or he failed to setup WinTV first like the IR Blaster to chance channel on STB and add Channel List so that Emby see them.

Yes that's probably true. Thanks.

I find that most of the settings in WinTV don't actually impact the streaming to Emby (probably because Emby is using the API and those are application settings specific to WinTV).  The one setting I did change was to disable buffering.  The stream comes up much faster and overall seems more stable.  Emby already allows you to rewind LiveTV, so no need for this feature.

Interesting, thanks for the info !

Server log?

Here logs with it on and off note this with DualHD Tuner it should make no diff what tuner I used with WinTV

I'm assuming he talk about the WinTV setting under Disk Buffering when set it to 0 so is that what refer to @@jasonwilliams ?, as I said this doesn't work with Emby but work with in WinTV

Thanks Jason et al,

I appreciate it.

In follow-up to my earlier post the reason I had problems had nothing to do with Emby.  I forgot that the model 1212 only outputs to 1080i max and my source wasn't having it in the set-up (1080P or 720P).  Kept outputting to composite due to the mismatch.  Once I changed it to 720P it came right across.  Might upgrade to the 1512 for the benefit of the 1080P.

Works great with Emby.  I really appreciate this Luke.  It is a nice feature.

Thanks again for the help guys.

That depend and I should point out that if recording from STB best stick 720p you will must likely not get 1080p only 1080i

The pass thru on the HD-PVR 2 can pass 1080p
