Recommended Posts

hi guys

just wanted to find out if I could get some I have emby running on a remote VPS. I setup the LAN networks feature so users didn't have to use a password on my Lan. after having few speed issues I decided to run emby through Cloudflare CDN. that looks to be working fine. but cant setup lan networks with Cloudflare CDN  on has anyone else had this issue.

What do you mean LAN feature?   you don't want it to be wide open with no passwords for everyone right?  Which is what it sounds like you are trying to do.   since your server is on a VPS in a data center, EVERY connection is remote, you don't want emby thinking every remote connection is local.  What are you trying to do?

i want to use pins from certain ip address like home isp public ip and passwords from other connections.

this was working before i turned on the cdn network in cloudflare

If things are setup correctly you should either see the clients real IP in your emby dashboard, or BOTH the clients IP and the cloudflare edge server that handled the connection (like mine below).  And you should be able to add your ISP to the "LAN Networks" field in emby.  But i think this also disables bandwidth related transcoding when emby thinks you are on a LAN (someone correct me if i'm wrong) which would make it difficult to stream.

As you can see in this screenshot I  connected to my server using IPv6 (could be another problem of yours) and another user connected using IPv4.  But either way you see the real client IP, cloudflare server ip.

thanks for the reply

that is how I thought it worked and tried adding both ips as well as cloudflares ipranges as that change sometimes. but still, want me to put in passwords. had not thought about the bandwidth implications might try to look it to that.
