riku 1 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 (edited) When i start videofile it will lag alot, problem seems ffmpeg pass is doing only 1-10fps no wonder this happens. it will eventually go 200-300fps if wait and watch laggy video few minutes. this is very odd because it will fix itself after few minutes. what i have try to do. - Changed the binary ffmpeg to distribution own. (i just created sybolic link to /opt/emby-server/bin) -> WILL NOT HELP - However if i ps axuwww same time when play video i get the exact command what emby using, and typing that from cmd direcly i dont have any issues, no matter what video i use it go over 300fps right away. - If i use transcode, it will work... problem is on pass(no transcode) now. from what i can tell, i have no idea what is happening, i tried renice etc, no help. top shows ffmpeg with D letter when this lag is happening. is there emby server somehow manipulating the ffmpeg PID ??? i want full power to it. i guess this is main question here. and i want to know how to fix this if this happening. problems started i guess when i moved from lxc to kvm and same time i upgraded ubuntu 16->18 and upgraded embyserver to latest stable. this is horrible framerate....frame= 56 fps= 11 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.28 bitrate=N/A speed=0.438xframe= 61 fps= 10 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.47 bitrate=N/A speed=0.411xframe= 64 fps=9.5 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:02.70 bitrate=N/A speed=0.401x ....frame= 135 fps=3.4 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:05.56 bitrate=N/A speed=0.14xframe= 139 fps=3.4 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:05.73 bitrate=N/A speed=0.139xframe= 143 fps=3.4 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:00:05.90 bitrate=N/A speed=0.139x.... after few minutes it restart it and it works (pid changed on ffmpeg) frame=35175 fps=189 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:24:50.47 bitrate=N/A speed=7.99xframe=35254 fps=189 q=-1.0 size=N/A time=00:24:53.73 bitrate=N/A speed=7.99x for workaround i have set force transcode "Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps):" it will have lower quality and waste alot cpu power, but hey it works.. untill this is somehow resolved Edited December 5, 2018 by riku
Luke 42079 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Until what is resolved? Please attach the complete emby server and Ffmpeg log. Thanks.

Luke 42079 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 What kind of storage is the media on? Is it really slow?
riku 1 Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 (edited) on cloud, its fast. but that is not the issue, as it work from command line, tried different files(also uncached ones) and it works fine on command line (same ffmepg command what emby does). been working couple years now untill i upgraded system maybe try beta emby? if i upgrade it will it broke or just upgrade it is it safe? Solution riku 1 Posted December 6, 2018 Author Solution Posted December 6, 2018 yeah rebooted now. that didn't help. After i upgraded rclone and it seems to fix the issue, this was a very odd problem lol. because i did multiple file transfers all went well. only what done this was ffmpeg as emby. very odd.. I thank very much Luke for your help and i appreciate your effort helping me. now if someone else has this problem on cloud drives, upgrade rclone. it seems upgrading linux distribution and libraries along it broke something, and needed upgrade, they fixed the issue on a newer version.
