bremen 0 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 New to Emby and so far I'm digging. Is there a way to be able to see the entire title of a movie or audio book? For Example Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is fairly long title. I want to see all of it and not just "Harry Potter and the ..." Is there a way to achieve this?

Sort of, you can apply Custom CSS, but it only applies to web client when connected locally (LAN) or via DDNS/WANIP. Custom CSS does not apply when connecting via app.emby.media. Apply code in Dashboard-Settings-Custom CSS box /*---- wrap card text - long movie names etc ----*/ div.cardText {white-space: pre-wrap;} Edited December 5, 2018 by Happy2Play
arrbee99 1816 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Don't know if it'll help, haven't tried it myself, but might be worth going to a movies metadata and editing a title ? Maybe change 'Title' to 'The Philosopher's Stone' ?
chowbok 132 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Could the default HTML be changed so that movies have a "title" attribute? That way, at least the full name will appear as a tooltip.
bremen 0 Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 I can definitely use the custom css for the web view, however, I would also like a solution for my Roku boxes as that is how the majority of my content is consumed. I am unfortunately too crazy to shorten my titles for the sake of fitting them on the screen. Thank you for the pointers.
Luke 42080 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 The issue is the uneven heights this would create for the poster items. We'd have to give all of them the second line whether they need it or not, and that wouldn't look so great. I think some sort of context into on focus/selection/hover would be better.
bremen 0 Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 That would definitely work. As I am a lowly DBA and not a programmer this idea might not be feasible, but perhaps the ability to use the list view that is available in the web interface in the Roku / mobile apps.
ErikaJ 65 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Hey there...old topic but was wondering if there was a solution for wrapping the long titles in pretty much every view? Cheers
arrbee99 1816 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Not really a proper solution, but editing the title seems to help, depending on the app (this is Theater) and the title itself...
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 In some apps it is possible to make long strings automatically scroll within a preset text box. I know I have see such on my Rokus and I think I have seen it on my Shield as well. That would be at least a way to partially address this problem if it is possible for Emby to use whatever method it is that accomplishes that.
ErikaJ 65 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Or perhaps ability to chnge font size would help somewhat...cheers
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Or perhaps ability to chnge font size would help somewhat...cheers I doubt that would do much good because there are many long titles that are long enough so a font small enough to make most of he title visible would also be so small as to be unreadable by normal humans and it would look like a smeared blur to many/most older people. Maybe displaying the title of the highlighted movie at the top of the screen as is done in some places in some clients would mitigate the problem to some extent.
Luke 42080 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 The beta server displays the full title when hovering over the text now.
ErikaJ 65 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) Ahh thanks for that Luke that was going to be my next alternative. Great job!! Cheers edit: Can I use the beta alongside the stable 4.1.1.0 on the same machine? Thanks.. Edited May 25, 2019 by snaitaz

Luke, would you please make this an option, I also often use Roku, I really need to be able to view full title name, to me it is much more important than how it looks.. or maybe a view option such a list view, where thumbnail is on left side and full title and info on right site.. Thanks
visproduction 315 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 (edited) I use these styles: .button-link { color: #fdfffd !important; font-size: 14px; padding: 3px 4px 3px !important; } .cardText.cardTextCentered.cardText-first-padded.cardText-first, .cardText-first { font-size: 16px; padding: 0 1px; margin-bottom: -3px; color: #FFFFF0 !important; background-color: #292c3a; white-space: pre-wrap; white-space: -moz-pre-wrap; white-space: -pre-wrap; white-space: -o-pre-wrap; } .cardText { overflow: visible !important; } Edited May 17, 2023 by visproduction 3
You4eea 0 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 (edited) visproduction Thanks, that is perfect. Do you happen to know how to make that work on ROKU? Edited May 22, 2023 by You4eea
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 CSS modification is only effective for the web client (I use a similar one to the above, as it happens). Paul 1
