Status bar visible during playback on iPad Pro 11”

I have the new iPad Pro 11”, and unfortunately the status bar doesn’t disappear during playback. Anyone know if it’s possible to turn this off? Or is it something that can only be addressed when the app is optimised for the new Pro?
