Radiance76 4 Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 (edited) HI, So I have been looking to see what performance I can get with Emby in Docker on my dedicated server and I have noticed a few odd things. Dedicated server: CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1270v6 - 4c/8t - 3.8GHz /4.2GHz RAM: 32GB DDR4 ECC 2133 MHz Bandwidth: 500Mbps I have local friends and family that range up to about 15 accounts that access the server now. I have 2 docker containers that are running where 1 is for general users and another I was gonna set up for Anime and cartoons, so i can test and play with. I noticed that the ram on the server spikes to almost 99% when I have emby installed directly on the server and not via docker. Via docker, so far its low like 3%... I also notice that some logs fill up to several hundreds of Gigs in data. Even now from this morning I have a log file that is about 200+ GB in size and this is from a running container. Anyone know why or can help me find out why? 1st install in docker https://gyazo.com/67542de0c5b90487cce219adde0668a6 https://gyazo.com/74f5a913a335b1bf3792eb118a7d02c3 Stats after another reinstall with Emby in docker https://gyazo.com/ef2490efa63e7aeb2a1fb935be16061b https://gyazo.com/491078820b02a9bdde00c0f8af63db7e https://gyazo.com/b093fbb302d1d47e1cf1cd0b998098b1 Edited December 9, 2018 by Radiance76

ddurdle 75 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Interesting finding. I've always noticed memory consumption gradually increases with emby when installed on debian jessie or debian stretch. So I've learned to monitor this and restart the instance when needed. I've always suspected a memory leak in one of the debian libraries as other reports on the forum of memory leaks have always been on debian systems. Your comment about the docker instance not having the memory issue is interesting.
Radiance76 4 Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 I always use the latest version when installing which currently from docker is Version 3.5.3.0 I am performing a test with using another dedicated server of lesser specs to see if the issue occurs more frequently. I also have containerized radarr and nzbget and currently looking to do the same with sonarr. If I get no issues with all apps in containers, I am thinking about replicating the specific emby container from the 1st server to the other server.
