I am using MX-17 linux and I ran the install and it said install was completed but when I went to run the program, I couldn't find it anywhere.

Hi, did you try starting from a terminal?

Posted (edited)

No because I don't know what to type in terminal to start the program from there.  I am relative new to linux so forgive me for my ignorance.  Could you tell me which version I need to use with my version of Linux?  thanks

After installing emby server, I keep getting the message

Failed to start emby-server.service: Unknown unit: emby-server.service

See system logs and 'systemctl status emby-server.service' for details.

For some reason MX-17 linux can't find this service.  I am lost what else to do

@@cdroland, I've merged your topics together. I've passed this to our build developer for review.

Please be aware we haven't tested on MX-17 at this point.

Thanks.

You won't find emby in your applicatin menu, this is not a desktop application. MX linux is based on debian, or some debian derivative right? What does "systemctl status emby-server" give you? We've seen issues where ubuntu would automatically mask our unit for no reason at all, maybe this is the case here as well.

It says

Failed to get properties: No such interface ''

Hi there, can you provide the full terminal output? thanks !

Forgive me for my ignorance but how do I do that? I will be glad to provide it if I can.

Where exactly did it say

Failed to get properties: No such interface ''

Can you show a screenshot? Thanks !

Is systemd installed?

from their wiki

"uses systemd-shim, meaning that systemd is installed but the default init is sysvinit."

$ service emby-server status
emby-server: unrecognized service

Ok, perhaps @@alucryd may know the answer, but up to this point we have not tested this distro.
