Couple Recorded TV questions

Hi

 

When entering the Recordings library  the one connected to Live TV DVR, I have to choose between Movies and Series before I get a list of shows.  Is there a way to dump directly into everything that has been recorded rather than having to deal with the intermediate step?

 

Also, is there a recommended way to create a media library for WMC Recorded TV?

Hi, for this, Emby supports wtv files. I would just setup a library using our recommended folder structure:

We used to have a setting about creating Movies and Series subfolders, you must have enabled it. Even though it is removed from the UI, it is still being respected. What you can do is shut down the server, then locate the livetv.xml file under the server's data folder, and then set EnableRecordingSubfolders to false.

 

This will stop it for new recordings. For existing ones you'll just have to re-arrange the current set of folders. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Either is fine for TV.

It would take a lot of work to move all my Recorded TV recordings into the recommended folder structure.  Is there a way I can tell Emby to analyze the shows and move them automatically into a structure? Would this be a chance to try Auto Organize?

The files would still need to follow a support naming convention in order for auto-organize to understand them. So that is one option, another is just importing them as a home videos library.

I wish I was a coder myself, but, alas, I'm just a sysadmin...  Give me Active Directory and a slew of servers all day long, but writing scripts was never my forte other than tinkering with PowerShell.  What I'd LOVE to see is a utility or script that will sift through the WMC Recorded TV folder to rename and re-order the whole library into an Emby-centric TV Series library.  I have nearly 8TB of WMC recordings and I'm not about to do that manually.

 

I do recall seeing way back a program that someone had written to rename WTV files for a similar purpose for RecordedTV HD or some such application.

 

This is the last bit I am waiting for (other than the HDHR-6) before full migration.
