jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 All Windows based players, including Windows 10 App, Chrome, XBox can not read SSA subtitles embedded in MKV again. Please stop update by taking steps backwards!
Luke 42078 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Hi there, please see how to report a media playback issue. thanks.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Unless you are a beta tester there hasn't been a server update in awhile. So you would have to give some more information.
Luke 42078 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 @@jnrfalcon I just tested an mkv with embedded ASS. Low and behold: No problem found.
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Hi there, please see how to report a media playback issue. thanks. Apparently they are not working for me. The transcode reason specifically said subtitle codec not supported. It worked fine last time I used Emby to go through these movies. Xbox log.txt Windows 10 log.txt

Emby on Synology up to date in Synology app store. Both Windows 10 and Xbox version updated/reinstalled today.
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 (edited) Here's the subtitle pulled from my file, still in MKS shell though. In case this helps. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgZ1gA9BaetJga51cnGeIeUxRFxFIg Edited November 26, 2018 by jnrfalcon
Luke 42078 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 did you disable the server transcoding setting to not allow on the fly subtitle extraction?
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 did you disable the server transcoding setting to not allow on the fly subtitle extraction? I counldn't find a setting to disable transcode. Please advice
Luke 42078 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Can you show a screenshot of the Transcoding settings page in your emby server dashboard?
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Can you show a screenshot of the Transcoding settings page in your emby server dashboard? not at this moment, there are a lot ffmpeg processes refuse to end themselves after playback and stalled my NAS. it is restarting now
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Can you show a screenshot of the Transcoding settings page in your emby server dashboard? Great... I unticked the allow subtitle extraction when I found it and now the emby server won't run anymore...
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 What does won't run mean? It means the Emby Server app status will show as stopped. It will run for a couple second when I click run and the stop again.
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Server log? What is the SSH location for those files?
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Server log? Got them embyserver-63678777642.txt embyserver-63678778476.txt start-stop-status_20181126.log
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 OK i see the conflict and fixed it. Trying those files with ASS sub again and it is not playing, just constantly loading.
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Finally playing but still transcoding for the same reason.
Luke 42078 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Try checking the box to allow extraction on the fly.
solabc16 379 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Hello @@jnrfalcon If possible, can you run the Send Logs utility and post the file reference back here when done. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Synology-:-How-to-Send-us-Support-Logs Best - James
jnrfalcon 1 Posted November 28, 2018 Author Posted November 28, 2018 Try checking the box to allow extraction on the fly. It just won't direct stream no matter what is set on that option. Furthermore, I see that Windows' Movie and TV won't show that subtitle either now. If you were using Windows' own decoder, it might be gone in the latest version.
Luke 42078 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 @@jnrfalcon, with that option checked, can you please provide a new server log? thanks !
denywinarto 5 Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 @@jnrfalcon, may i know what cpu youre using? I think you might be able to solve this by setting the hardware acceleration to "none". I had same issue and thats how i fix it.. But now transcoding becomes extremely slow.. i suspect its because my cpu is xeon engineering sample i got from chinese ebay seller.. and i havent been able to install any drivers for it..thats why i asked what your cpu is..
