Newer episodes not showing

This just keeps getting weirder.  Out of frustration I just started searching for the missing episodes and as with all of the others, when I first go in to edit an episode, it has the correct episode number, but no season number or other metadata.  So I enter the season number, hit save and then refresh.  Once the metadata shows up I save again.  I did this to a few episodes before and once the metadata was scraped the episodes would show up under the series section.  But now that's not happening any more.

I've also just noticed that when I search for a missing episode and then go to it's details. it shows an error message for a second or two and then it goes away.  Here is a screenshot of the error:

OK the corrected episodes do show up under shows.  It just took a while.  I still have a bunch missing the season number and they get the error above.  Any easy way to correct them?

Does anybody know why I'm getting that error?

We would need to see your server log.

When you say "next release", do you mean the next beta?

I updated my MB3 server and those errors seem to be gone now. But my episodes still won't scrape.  As I've mentioned before, MB3 only scrapes the episode number for the problem episodes.  I deleted the episode number from the metadata, saved it and refreshed the metadata and again it returns only the episode number and nothing else.  The log shows:

2014-05-05 21:14:16.5413 Debug - App: Running TvdbEpisodeProvider for \\192.168.1.42\TV Shows\Jericho\Jericho - s02e04 - Oversight - DVD Rip.mkv

2014-05-05 21:14:16.5413 Debug - App: Running EpisodeXmlProvider for \\192.168.1.42\TV Shows\Jericho\Jericho - s02e04 - Oversight - DVD Rip.mkv

Why is it not scraping all the metadata?  I really want to get these episodes to appear in MB3 as it's quite frustrating to have stuff missing from my library.

double check the tvdb id of the series

I just checked both of my problem series and they both have the correct TheTVDB ID.  Refreshing all info at the series level does not add the missing episodes either.  Any other ideas?

can you define missing? missing from where?

Missing from My Library>TV>Jericho (series name).  Also not showing up under Metadata Manager>TV>Jericho (series name)

It's the same for both of my problem shows.  It doesn't even show a bunch of seasons because it doesn't "see" any episodes for that season.

Backing them up is not really practical.  Sure I can do a search for them and copy them all to another location easily enough, but restoring them all back into their original folders would be a nightmare.

you only have to worry about one series, the one you're going to refresh.

Oh.  OK.  But won't the library scan do all movies and series?

Posted

no they've already been scanned before. it will only be looking for new changes.

I just as you suggested and it did create a series.xml in the series folder, but episodes are still missing after the library update.  The info in series.xml is the correct info for the show.

Testing with Jericho the only way I could get it to recognize all episodes was to put into season folders.  For some reason with all episodes dumped into the series folder it would only recognize the first 16 episode, like something was stuck from the original Jericho 1966 (16 episodes).

Even changing Series folder to Jericho (2006)  helped it recognized proper series but had to have season folder or same results as above.

That's exactly what happened to me. I don't use season folders and it only scraped in the first season. Law & Order SVU is acting the same way excepted it never scraped any episode automatically.

Another strange thing that coincides with what you are saying is that the "missing" episodes do all get an episode number scraped into the meta data but no season number. Once I manually enter a season number into the metadata for an episode and then refresh, all the other metadata is scraped and the episode appears in MB3.

I have a question before I do that.  Since the save local metadata and artwork is tied together will MB3 overwrite any of my existing artwork?  I have a lot of custom artwork That I use in XBMC and I really do not want to lose any of it.

Posted

no, nothing to worry about there, but backup just in case obviously if it's important to you.

That's exactly the issue. Need to figure out why its not extracting the number

Can you try this just for information gathering purposes:

- Enable saving of local metadata

- Refresh series from the edit page

- Run library scan

Then let me know if it makes a difference. it will create files in your folder but you can always delete those and revert the setting afterwards. thanks.
