Having over 6000 movies and some of them not being from English-speaking countries, I cannot believe how I didn't remember asking this before.

I think it's in the API of OMDB if I'm not mistaken. Or could be dealt at scrapping time using tmdb.

+1 for this

push up... a five year old request, which really didn't take a lot of efforts to implement it.

In my opinion the original title can be showed down, next to all the other media informations.

This please!

As the IMDB does, show the local title with the original title below it.
There's a good reason they did this.  It's bloody useful!

Many users just don't entertain foreign movies much... But others do... Especially if you're not in a English speaking country!  So the name you might know a movie by might not be the same as what the name most of the rest of the world know it as!

And as with everything, make it an option, even defaulted to off, to keep everyone happy 🫣!

Oh, and for completeness...  As you did with adding "File Name" to the "Show Fields" display options (Thanks!!!), you could add "Original Name" here as well.  Then browsers can see both the local and original name.

And it does look like it should be easy, as the metadata is already retrieved/stored by emby.  So it just needs to be displayed.

Yes! I really wish Emby had this feature. It's really the only thing I miss from Plex.

I have movies in my local language that my family can't find because of the english titles, but if I set my library to danish, a lot of the english movies get weird translated titles as well. If there was a possibility to keep original titles as well, it would be great!

is it possible to change this with a plugin?

A plugin can't change the layout of Emby apps, so no, it could not add a second title underneath the first.

What it could potentially do though is rename media using original title, although I wouldn't necessarily suggest that.

I did actually add this to the MediaInfo plugin - I just haven't published it yet as I have some other updates to do.

But basically there are two options - you need to choose one or the other - you cannot choose both for obvious reasons ..

It also give you the option to tag the item when it actions, so you can sort by tag 'OriginalTitle' and it will bring up all the movies that have a different Original title.

Hi everyone,

Is it possible in Emby to keep the original title of a movie but have the description in my language?

I don't mean to be critical, but I believe many users have been waiting for this feature for a long time, and it would be great if something could finally be implemented.

This has also been discussed here

Maybe it's an idea to merge these threads to prevent more thread necros?

Yeah, while they are related topics, features requested are actually different: dual-title display vs. single(original)-title display library option, hence decided against merging.

We have the infrastructure now so it would be very easy to add this as a selectable field.

The problem is, for those of you who want this, you probably want it on every screen and not just certain ones.

I vote for this and recommend it as an option in the display settings.

Yeah, I‘d love to see that, too.
