Mapping iocage jail folder as network drive

Hello,

 

I am flummoxed by trying to copy the /var/db/emby-server from my existing 3.3.1.0 folder (freenas Warden Jail) over to a new iocage 3.5.3.0.

 

I can share and map to the warden jail folder, so via windows i can see everything within the jail, however i cannot work out how to access the data within an iocage jail.

 

I have the iocage jails being setup on a pool "redmirror" and when i go to the SMB sharing i can create a share "/mnt/redmirror/iocage" however mapping it, the folder is empty.

 

I cant map any further down than "/mnt/redmirror/iocage" which may explain why windows doesn't see anything... because the folder is empty.

 

There is a folder also called "iocage" which appears directly under the "mnt" and looking here, thats where emby is.  However, i cannot map "/mnt/iocage/jails/emby" as i get the error "The path must reside within a volume mount point".

 

 

I have tried various command line approaches which are under this thread https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63110-freenas-replicate-all-unique-emby-settings-metadata-to-new-jail/ and i am getting to the point of thinking that 3.3.1.0 is fine and doesnt need upgraded.

 

Hoping perhaps finding a way to map the drive may help.

thats an issue you probably find help in the freenas forum.

 

However, i am not even sure if you can smb share a folder from an iocage dataset, cause the is most likely a problem with permissions. Have you tried just creating a dataset outside of the iocage dataset and linking it to the jail and sharing it with smb

Jail -link->  /mnt/TANK/emby-server
smb-share /mnt/Tank/embyserver

Get yourself a program such as winscp and forget about trying to map your jail folders to windows.

Thanks for the input, i gave up and just command line copied the files over to the new jail.

 

winscp looks good, not seen that before, will give that a try.
