Lee 212 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Given the server transcodes on the fly, how difficult would it be to have it permanently encode video files? *I don't know btw just seems li I'll e it SHOULD be easy* I could see this being a nice feature to pull in more punters.... Tikuf 663 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Yes there are plans for this and it wont be a long bow to include it. What does worry me is that the reencode has consequences (oops sorry we broke your media) as opposed to it didn't play back. We will get there it may be a little down the track. 1
pmac 143 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Possibly add mandatory password protection to the reencode feature and only make it possible from the Server WebUI
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Possibly add mandatory password protection to the reencode feature and only make it possible from the Server WebUI Would make it hard to request a movie for syncing from your phone or tablet. User accounts already have passwords so only need an option to allow content syncing or not. Should still be able to request a movie and sync it from the mobile clients if permission is granted though.
Lee 212 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 I was thinking produce a copy btw rather than replace, which circumvents the "you broke my media" issue... Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk
