Sytem File Permissions

I have reinstalled emby-server about 4 times the past 6 months for various reasons.

One of my Devices has an older version of smart hub. It will run emby but as long as the folder size is not too large or it sticks and freezes and will not allow you to load anything past the first couple of pages. To get around this problem had to structure my drives  as per the following below:

Movies->1920 ->#

                        ->A

                        ....

                       ->Z

            ->1930 -> #

                        ->A

                         ....

                        ->Z

             ....

            -> 2017 ->#

                         .....

                         ->Z

To do this manually will take me months to add the libraries to emby manually through the gui.

So I wrote a bash script that creates the structure under /val/lib/emby/root/default/. Every thing is exact to the ones that emby created. All the A.mblink and option.xml. Set ownership and group both to emby the folder permission to 755 and files to 644. but when I do a scan library I get an access denied to the files on /val/lib/emby/root/default/... Any tips to fix this. I have 26 years with 27 folders in each just for movies totaling 702 individual folders to add.

I am a premium Member and would like and easier way to add the folder then sitting day in and day out adding. The script works except even thought the permissions are set it still says that access is denied. I am using Debian Stretch.
