retiredfields 0 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Can I install / run Mediabrowser server without installing Pismo? Pismo caused other system issues for me on Win 8.1 and I do not want it on my system. Mediabrowser seems to run fine without Pismo, but every time I start the Mediabrowser, it gives me the UAC prompt and it wants to install Pismo. I do not use iso files. I cancel the UAC prompt and Mediabrowser runs OK. Any way around this? Thanks Edited April 15, 2014 by retiredfields
retiredfields 0 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Pismo changed the value here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\HwOrder from : RDPNP,LanmanWorkstation, webclient to: pfmunc I could no longer browse for computers and shares on my LAN. As soon as I changed the registry back to the windows 8.1 default, it solved the problem. Any ideas? It would be nice to have Pismo as an option during install, rather than a requirement.
Redshirt 1487 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 The problem with making it an option is that, while you say you wont ever use it, other users may not be so resolved. So Luke has to consider the impact of users who say no to Pismo and then months down the road add some ISO's to their library. Will they know they have to reinstall MB server to get the installer to add Pismo, or will they just assume the server is broken. The latter adds a support burden.
Luke 42078 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Right now it's not possible, sorry. But if you can elaborate on the issues you're having, maybe we can solve them.

I don't have any ideas about that, sorry. but we'll take the idea of making it optional into consideration.
