Beta server and stable server on same machine

Hi all,

 

I'm just wondering what kind of trouble I might cause if I try to run the latest beta server on the same machine as my stable server is on? I'm anxious to try the new database improvements, but the only spare machine I have is a bit underpowered. Thanks.

Hi, on windows you could use a portable install. On other platforms there isn't really a supported way.

works fine - in windows

 

you need to change the default ports on one server to be able to have them live at the same time

 

so shut down stable - install beta (to another dir) and once installed change the ports numbers under dashboard>advanced to say 9096 and 9920 - save and reboot the beta server

 

now you can bring the stable server back up

You would have to grab it from GitHub as there is only the Stable listed on Download page.  "embyserver-win-x64-3.6.0.63.7z"
