Bluenose 1 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I've been using MBC on a HTPC and MB server on my home server for over a month with no issues. Yesterday I hooked up a new ROKU3 to the bedroom TV and installed the MB app for Roku. It worked like a charm. Good Wi-Fi connection. Last night we were watching both DVD and Bluray rips (made using MakeMKV) with no problems. This morning I watched one movie (MKV made from a DVD). When I tried to watch another, MB on Roku just stopped streaming from the server. MB will load ok and I can navigate and see my full library collection, but when I play a movie, it says "retrieving" the blue progress bar moves all the way from left to right displays "quality ...." and just sits there. So far I've hooked it up to Ethernet, reloaded the app, restarted the Roku, updated the server software to the latest Version 3.0.5211.41935 , restarted the server. Changed the video quality both up and down on the MB app. Checked and was able to play movies from the web client. MB on the Roku will play music (FLAC) from the server ok. Server logs attached.... I hope https://www.dropbox.com/sh/e4uy7fuqybgtpf3/TMiWph_hQ1 https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9wzfylva0fumy74/WBAPBP3SkP
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Some people have reported that they have to reset the Roku on occasion when using MediaBrowser over WiFi. You might try that. Resetting, requires unplugging the Roku and rebooting it.
Bluenose 1 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Thanks Wayne, I have unplugged the Roku several times so far. I've disabled wi-fi and hooked it up via Ethernet, with no change in behaviour. I did a reset and hooked it up to Ethernet and I could get it to play a few MKV/DVD rips and a few MKV/BluRay rips but only maybe two or three before it would lock up again. I would occasionally get a rebuffering indication with both DVD and Bluray rips so I'm wondering if there is something server side not set up properly. Most of the settings on the MB Server software are in their default settings. The rest of the Roku works fine with regards to streaming Netflix etc. I also wonder if the server's processor is too weak for transcoding (I didn't plan on it doing transcoding when I built it) It's only has an i3 3240 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge processor. It doesn't have many other tasks except late at night when it does backups.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Go into the Media Browser settings on the Roku. Try increasing the bit rate for playback.
gcw07 347 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 If you continue to have problems a server log and ffmpeg log would help. We could see if your server is struggling to keep up with any transcoding that is going on.
Bluenose 1 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 I've tried that Wayne and it made no noticeable difference . I'll try and get some logs posted tonight or tomorrow when I get a few free minutes.
