adoteq 0 Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Hi, Why is my server buffering while transcoding, when it should support 4k playback in encode and decode accoarding to intel specification. My cpu is intel i3-7130u 2.7GHZ, with hardware decode & encode support for up to 2 4k streams. When playing through vlc media player, everything works fine.Other files are even worse, they load after about a minute, and then keep buffering every 5 seconds.I would like a solution to this, since this problem exists in both plex and emby, emby could make a win for it. I attached the transcode log.Joannes Wyckmans
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 No Log have you enabled HW Transcoding in Emby?
adoteq 0 Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) Turned out that hardwaredecoding was activated, but specifically which types (h264, h265 etc) wasnt selected, which I had selected about a few days ago, but now isnt. Now that I have selected hardwaredecoing, it isn't playing at all anymore. transcode-log.log Edited October 29, 2018 by adoteq
adoteq 0 Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 here another log. with hw acceleration... transcode-log-2.log
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) try turning off HW decoding and turn off subtitles and you do have intel drivers loaded for qsv? and its a windows server? Edited October 29, 2018 by PenkethBoy
adoteq 0 Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) It is a windows 10 home edition, but on windows 10 pro it doesnt work either.I have no subtitles when streaming.I have latest drivers for intel, but intel qsv is nowhere to be found. Is that a seperate download, or is it included with driver package?Intel i3-7130u comes with Intel HD Graphics 620.At hw accelaration I selected intel quick sync (on emby server). It still keeps buffering every 1 or 2 seconds. It seems about the same. Edited October 29, 2018 by adoteq
Guest asrequested Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) Hardware acceleration isn't working for your GPU. The next server release will give you other options. Edited October 29, 2018 by Doofus
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 did you turn off HW decoding in Emby? might just be that your cpu/igpu is not powerful enough to transcoding as it only has a pass mark of 4000ish

adoteq 0 Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 What plugin? Can I do something to fix it? Or is it too complicated?
Guest asrequested Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 (edited) What plugin? Can I do something to fix it? Or is it too complicated? No, it's ffmpeg. Nothing you can do. But the good news is that the next server release will have some great improvements. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/64534-36058-hardware-acceleration-settings/page-1 Edited October 30, 2018 by Doofus
