reneboulard 34 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Integrating Google Smart Lock into the Android and Android TV app would make logging in and changing user easier when using complicated and strong password. Google Smart Lock https://developers.google.com/identity/smartlock-passwords/android/ Thank.
ebr 16184 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Hi. How would this be different from our already implemented auto logon feature? Also, I don't think I agree that it would simplify changing users as you'd have to actually change the logged in Google user which is much more difficult than just switching users within our app...
reneboulard 34 Posted October 26, 2018 Author Posted October 26, 2018 For what I experienced, auto log on work fine when you open the app, it will log you in with the same user that last used the app. But if I want to change user, or change server, I need to enter user name and password. On Android tablet, since I use a password manager, I can easely copy and paste, but on Android TV I cannot copy and paste and the onscreen keyboarb is not easy to use for logging in. On Android TV you can have multiple Google user, easy to switch between user. On Google smart lock, you can have multiple account for an app. Got the idea because of Netflix, when my kids visit home, they use their Netflix account on the Android TV in the guess room. Google smart lock does the job. Hope this help.
ebr 16184 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Doesn't switching the logged in Google user require the entry of a complex password as well...?
reneboulard 34 Posted October 26, 2018 Author Posted October 26, 2018 In Android TV you can change Google user without entering password, if the user account is already available on the set top box. A set top box, can have multiple user, the box does not move, the users come to it. A phone or a tablet is more personal, it move with it owner so no real need to change account. On application that use the Google Smart Lock API, you can have more than one user account with password for the application. Molotov.tv use this API and it is very simple to change user. If it can be simple and secure at the same time, why not!
ebr 16184 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Okay, we will monitor this request for other feedback. Thanks!
