How to properly share my Emby server?

Long time Plex user here that is looking to fully switch to Emby in the near future.

My only question is about sharing with family members. Currently on Plex, I have home users(aside from the admin) for myself, my wife, and a 'Kids' user. Beyond that, I have shared my server with my in-laws and they log in with their plex.tv account.

How do I accomplish this with Emby? The login process seems quite a bit different from Plex.official site https://thegadgetwire.com/tutuapp/ thegadgetwire.com/appvalley

Hi and welcome.

 

Yes, in our system you are in complete control of your users.  You simply create them in the server dashboard and then give your family members the proper information to connect to the server and log on.

A nice feature would be if the admin could set a one-time pin/password or a special URL which would give access for a new account and force them to set their own password. Unfortunately, you have to do this process the hard way. (Not sure how the Emby Connect users behave since I haven't gone that route yet).

It will do kind of what you are asking as you would enter their email and it would send them a link to sign up (where they would create an id and pw) and then you would then link them to your server.

 

However, we are considering some changes to that process in the future so that's why I didn't push you that way.
