video stutters with direct play, and plays fine with transcoding

I use a emby server and since some days I got a problem. The movies I watch (20mbit-30mbit bitrate) are stuttering while direct play and arent while transcoding them. this is really strange because it worked just fine until now. I tested in on several films/series and on several devices (samsung s9 and nvidia shield tv and windows 10 pc). My internet speed is 80mbit, so it should be sufficient for 1080p streaming

 

any advice?

Hi, 20-30 Mbps is still very high for a remote connection. I would expect that sometimes you will have problems if you are always direct playing.

Why not use our media convert feature to create lower bitrate versions?
