MikeTech 0 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 (edited) Just updated to 1.6.5 on phone (iOS12) to watch World Series, suddenly stream slows, stutters, audio sync issues, etc. Was working fine previous to update. Checked all HD channels, same thing. Went to server itself, all was perfect, 1080P playing stream from HD Homerun. Tried previous version of Emby app running on iPad just now, worked fine also, then upgraded that to 1.6.5, and stream degraded exactly the same as phone, stuttering, audio missing, etc. Recorded media seems fine, only chokes on streams now. I have another iPad with the older app, but I’m not going to upgrade now. What’s up with this? Version says it plays better on iOS 10, but it sure isn’t working on 12, anybody else seeing this issue? Adding: if I reduce playback quality on the app to 240p, it will *almost* play the stream smoothly, but with occasional audio dropouts. Edited October 25, 2018 by MikeTech
MikeTech 0 Posted October 25, 2018 Author Posted October 25, 2018 One more bit of info: SD streams are not affected, apparently. Took me a while to find a couple, and no issues with audio sync, stuttering, etc. using Auto-direct setting. But with live HD, even reducing quality manually to 360p does not completely eliminate the issues.
MikeTech 0 Posted October 25, 2018 Author Posted October 25, 2018 OK, not sure what happened, but I think all is OK now. Did a complete server reboot, plus a firmware update on HRHD, and streams seem to be OK on all platforms now. Didn’t find any issues in logs, so I guess we just put it in the one-off mystery category and move on...sorry to waste your time, Luke.
MikeTech 0 Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 Argh. All of the above was done remotely, and worked fine until I tried it on the home network. Then back to molasses, stuttering live TV in HD on iOS. But, if I access Emby using Safari on iOS instead of the app, it works perfectly. Since there is very little to configure in playback settings on the Emby app, I am totally stumped. App doesn’t like the home network, apparently. Any suggestions appreciated...
MikeTech 0 Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 Thanks. Can supply server logs and/or link to screen recording comparing both methods of access if needed.
