Duplicated Content Library

I'm running Emby Server 3.5.2 on FreeNAS 11

I was creating a new library while the server was running a bit slow. I clicked the create button but received no feed back and made the sin of clicking create a second time. I was rewarded with two new libraries of the same configuration but one library received a '1' appended to the end of the name.

Any attempt to remove the duplicate library, just says the task has been queued but nothing ever happens. I tried removing the folders from the duplicate library, but I get an unspecified error (nothing noticeable in the logs even with debug turned on)

I tried adding folders and removing them again, but even the unique folder path will not remove from the duplicate library. Obviously some kind of bug is going on here, but is there anything I can do to manually remove the duplicate library? Edit a file somewhere? Connect to a database and delete a row?

attached sanitized log for your viewing.

Hi, try removing the two libraries altogether and then add a new one back, making sure to just press the button once.

We'll look at making sure this isn't possible. Thanks.

I'm running Emby Server 4.0 on Synology DS1517+

I have a similar problem: I only have ONE entry "HD Films" at the dashboard for a film library, but under "My Media" I have TWO identical entries with exactly the same name "HD Films" and exactly the same content.

Is deleting the whole library and adding it again still the only solution? Or is it possible to edit a XML file (If that fails I have to delete and rebuild anyway :) )

Thanks in advance

this has happened to me too.

I added a Music library, and i've ended up with duplicate libraries showing, however mine is slightly different.

they don't show as a duplicate in the admin dashboard, but do show as a duplicate in any Emby app (including web).

i have 3 music libraries showing in these.

deleting the library doesn't fix the issue, as the duplicate remains visible even when there is no library called that in the dashboard.

Thank you for your quick response.

But removintg the library and than adding it again is Luke's solution in post #2 to that very similar problen described in post #1

Just to make clear: in the dashboard I only have one library with the name "HD Films" defined. The duplicates appear in "My Media" (exactly as in the picture at post #1, but with identical names). And even when I deny acces to one of the duplicates for a specific user, that user will see both (identical) libraries.

And consequently: When I start watching a film and pause it, I get TWO films where I could continue.

same for me (but with a music library).

After you've removed it from Emby library setup, try running two library scans and see if that removed it. Thanks.

It worked!

Removing "HD Films" from library setup left one "ghost entry", after rescanning the "ghost" disappeared, and I could add the library again.

Thanks.

I have an update to this thread. I wasn't able to ever delete either of those libraries. It turns out that Emby's web UI wasn't able to delete anything (users, collections, playlists, etc). I always got an error or just a spinny progress graphic that never ended. It seems whatever the source of the problem is related to the web UI. I was able to delete things using the mobile app. While I have found a reasonable workaround, I have noticed this still being a problem on Emby 4.0.2 as well. I run the UI exclusively in Firefox, but that *shouldn't* make a difference.

Thanks for the info. We'll take a look at this.

I have the same problem (hit ok a few times when it looked like it wasn't doing anything) and ended up with the same number of duplicate sources equal to my clicks (3 for one and 2 for another.)

Complete removing the sources didn't fix the problem for me, either.  (It is gone from my library view in server dashboard but still shows up for my users.)  The remove source did remove one of the copies, though and did work via the browser in Chrome.

Recanning the entire library did fix the problem.  I'm curious if I had to remove the source to begin with (just a thought to the next person with this error)

Hi, yes, simply remove the library, run and complete two full library scans, and then add it back. Thanks.
