grl 0 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Hi! I have a library of music added as "mixed content". I tried to prohibit emby from fetching primary images from somewhere - tried to switch off all the downloaders and fetchers when adding the library but it will still fetch some primary image from somewhere. Can this behaviour beeing switched off? I don't want to have any image or metadata from nowhere... As an workaround I could imagine blocking the according internet traffic - but I couldn't figure out from where that information is fetched. Anyone an idea? regards Lukas
Luke 42085 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Hi, the settings for your particular library will allow you to configure which image providers are used. Thanks.
grl 0 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 "tried to switch off all the downloaders and fetchers when adding the library but it will still fetch some primary image from somewhere" But it still fetches images... So where did I miss to switch that off besides the library settings? Lukas
Luke 42085 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Hi, exactly what fetchers did you turn off?
Luke 42085 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 And did you turn them off after this had already happened? Because changing the library settings will only apply to new media going forward, or new refreshes of existing media.
grl 0 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Switched off every fetcher I could find on adding the library to emby (removed it beforehand). I removed: Series metadata downloadersSeason metadata downloadersEpisode metadata downloadersMovie metadata downloadersAutomatically refresh metadata from the internet: set to neverMetadata saversSeries Image Fetchers (including fetcher settings)Season Image Fetchers (including fetcher settings)Episode Image FetchersMovie Image Fetchers (including fetcher settings) Lukas
Luke 42085 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Ok well none of those are related to music. We might not be exposing those settings for music in mixed content. We'll have to look at that. So yes, that would mean there's no way to do it right now. 1
grl 0 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 I can just add once again the wish to have a library type that does no "logic" whatsoever... Just display the plain content of the folders on the disc showing there plain filenames. For everyone having collections that do not fit the main stream this "feature" is really annoying... Thanks Lukas
grl 0 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Added part of my library as type "music" Switched off all fetchers there too: MusicAlbum metadata downloadersMusicArtist metadata downloadersMusicVideo metadata downloadersAutomatically refresh metadata from the internet: set to neverMetadata saversMusicAlbum Image Fetchers (including fetcher settings)MusicArtist Image Fetchers (including fetcher settings)Audio Image FetchersMusicVideo Image Fetchers (including fetcher settings) Same result: images are downloaded and even in folder view not the folder names but some strange metadata is displayed.... Please have a look at this! regards Lukas
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Music primarily work off of embedded metadata, so I that what you are seeing? Only Home Videos and Photos library type truly has no provider logic.
grl 0 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 The metadata in the files itself is not always meaningful - especially if you own a huge collection of files coming from some small independant groups or recordings... This is why i always use the directoryname and the filename as criteria - nothing else. Its pretty annoying that emby is not able to leave everything untouched - even if you use the "folder view" which should do exactly what I want in my opinion. And that you can not stop emby from fetching random images from the internet makes no sense at all... Don't get me wrong - emby is a pretty nice piece of software, which is why I bought premier instantly. But I don't get why a software forces you to use some fancy "logic" that does not work for you at all instead just leaving everything untouched - and according to some posts I found while searching for a solution I'm not the only one wanting that... Lukas
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 You would have to strip all the embedded metadata to make Emby blind for music.
grl 0 Posted October 21, 2018 Author Posted October 21, 2018 You would have to strip all the embedded metadata to make Emby blind for music. Which is not an option obviously... Still: There should be a content type that just displays whats there - and nothing else. No fancy "logic" that doesn't work anyway... Lukas
