Luke 42079 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Hi there, are you seeing transcoding somewhere and you feel it shouldn't be happening?
Mike5123 1 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Hi there, are you seeing transcoding somewhere and you feel it shouldn't be happening? Because chrome and firefox do not support HEVC, Emby transcodes x264 on UHD films. While I know the steps to play natively, other users may not know these steps. It would be nice to disable transcoding on my UHD library since my Intel 630 can only support two UHD transcodes.
Luke 42079 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 I see. So you're saying you'd rather have the browser put up an error message, right?
Mike5123 1 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 I see. So you're saying you'd rather have the browser put up an error message, right? Yes, that would work.
Mike5123 1 Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 (edited) I see. So you're saying you'd rather have the browser put up an error message, right? Actually, I take it back. It transcodes to x264 on Internet Edge, which supports x265 natively. Is native playback limited to emby apps? Edit: I'll make a bug report. Still would like the feature mentioned though. Luke 42079 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 I gave the reason here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/64273-internet-edge-hevc-to-x264/?view=getlastpost
