nmkaufman 50 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) Has anyone had any luck organizing non-album tracks in Emby? Physically, my files are organized like so: >Music >>[non-album tracks] >>>"Band 1 - Song 1" >>>"Band 1 - Song 2" >>>"Band 2 - Song 1" >>Band 1 >>>Album 1 >>>>"Album 1 - Song 1" >>>>"Album 1 - Song 2" >>>Album 2 >>>>"Album 2 - Song 1" Now if I tag my non-album tracks with an album artist, I end up with 100's of seperate non-album track albums. If I tag my non-album tracks without an album artist, I end up with a massive album with 100's of contributing artists. The second scenario is closer to what I want, but nowhere does it tell me who the artist of each song is. My description of things stinks, so I've attached a picture. You'll see that the longs are listed, but with no artist. What's the solution? Thanks in advance. Edited October 18, 2018 by nmkaufman
Luke 42093 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Hi, this is not currently fully supported but is planned for the future. Thanks. 1
nmkaufman 50 Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 You're planning on supporting the way I have them organized currently, as in I should leave them alone?
Luke 42093 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 To be determined. For now I would suggest organizing into album folders. Thanks.
Solution Dibbes 514 Posted October 18, 2018 Solution Posted October 18, 2018 I have something very similar. At this point I tagged all the files with an imaginary album name (I used Rob's Top 8000, the album metadata needs to be put in manually if desired), then set the album artist as Various Artists and used the artist tag for the real artist or artists. All files are in the same folder, though for convenience's sake I separated them per 500 tracks with Disc 1, Disc 2, etc. In case of classical music I use the composer field too, but Emby doesn't seem to do much with it. This way the tracks do show up under the artist when looking for it (so it's indexed properly) and it doesn't give too much clutter. 1
nmkaufman 50 Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 Yeah, I'm actually wondering if the solution could be as easy as adding an album artist tag (various artist,) because I have a few compilation albums that work perfectly. I'm at work, though, so I won't get a chance to try anything until the weekend. Good looking out, though.
nmkaufman 50 Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 That actually worked! I added an album artist tag to all of my non-album tracks (Various Artists), and now life is good. Image of the results, attached (emby's still re-scanning, but you get the idea.)
