@@mgworek Alexa is great, so Google Home and most others. Whats important is how you use them. Take for example, Domino. It's "main brain" is HomeSeer3 with Alexa integration. I can have my echo in box in a suitcase, in trunk, under my trailer (theoretically as it needs power and wifi). Homeseer knows it's name is Domino (i could have openHAB do this part but I started with HS3 first) and I talk to it as I need things.Smart home components are controlled by "Domino" directly, no need for internet (Z-Wave/local WiFi). Domino can take any questions I ask it and query Alexa directly. Any feedback from Alexa is audio that is passed thru HS3 and relayed back to the speaker nearest my location, the whole house or predetermined speaker. Now, I typically do not use that function atm, but plan to when I incorporate more things outside. In a tiny house any speaker or whole house is the same :)

In this way, Alexa does not hear anything, control anything or push any sound thru it's weak Echo speaker, but she and all she brings with it is part of the "brain" behind domino.

@@VaporTrail I had looked at in floor heating but I just did not have time due to the TV show, nor did I really want to stretch my budget that much further. That being said, my floor is super easy to pull up and lay down heating pads like that. They are really cool, but socks fix the issue for now. Next on my list is solar power panels on top.

I never thought of doing it that way. I am not sold on Home Assistant. In fact, there are things I don't like about it. I haven't looked into HomeSeer3 but I will take a look. There are a couple more out there I was going to look at. Snips is coming out with something next  year as well for the control part but since it would be new, would it be compatible with what I already have.

Thanks for the info!
