Unable to pin

Hello,

 

im unable to pin any device, i pin someone and they get a picture of my admin user login and cant do anything else

 

i have another user i use to pin as i disable some features that i dont want people to use like delete stuff etc

 

i cannot pin via admin account or the user account.

 

can someone look at it please

 

 

ive checked the email addresses and confirmed the accounts and they all linked but still i cant pin

Hi.  What exactly do you mean by "pin someone"...?

 

Make sure you aren't connecting other users with your admin account.  It sounds like maybe you did that...

tried clicking login to connect and then use the pin but the same screen pops up

Are you asking about creating a PIN for a regular non admin user?

By "pin a device" do you mean log in via Emby Connect?

 

We don't have a process to "pin a device"...

 

Exactly how have you setup your users on the server?

Yes I mean via emby connect

 

So my setup is

 

Admin account so that's for me as I have recording and downloading on it so I can use it if needed.

 

Pin account which I use to pin or emby connect family to but this doesn't have recording or downloading enabled as I don't want any of them using that feature

 

So both accounts are linked and confirmed via email addresses

 

I had another server and now I've changed servers today so when my parents are loading emby they just get the server IP which is now gone. And they get emby connect. They click that and pass me the pin code and I connect them but the screen they get is a picture of the admin and pin account , doesn't let them in emby to view content.

 

If they click any of those pictures it asks for password so the pin/emby connect option doesn't seem to be working

 

I've then got them to sign out of connect, reboot and then click it again to generate pin but they get the same screens

 

 

Any ideas

It sounds like it's got something to do with the old server still showing. I've since uninstalled emby from that server so it's gone and will not load up anymore but still getting the same as above.

 

 

But I've just used emby connect to connect my shield and Xbox one using admin and tried the pin account and works fine but still won't on anything else.

What, exactly, are you doing here because that is not how that process should work.

 

The instructions on that screen should tell them to go to emby.media/pin and login with THEIR Emby Connect account and provide the PIN number shown.

You should not need to start over.  What you need to do is:

1) get each user to signup for Emby Connect

2) create an account on your Emby Server for each user and set permissions.

3) associate their Emby Connect username with your local Emby Server username you created for them.

That's it.
