Library format for Music Videos?

Hi

What is the library format for Music Videos?

Thanks

Hi PoBear. You would think this is an easy question and the answer is "Set it to the library type of Music Videos" as it is one of the options, but truth be told it will not do anything for you. Set it to TV shows and the results will be the same as far as metadata is concerned. If you have the files named properly it will at least show the name, artist and a snapshot of the music video

Thats not what i see

/artistname/videoname/videofile - works fine with the musicvideo library type

works for stable and beta server - although the presentation has changes in beta to a more functional layout

Ahhh thios is my fault then. I was unaware of such restricted file naming rules. I have my music and music videos in Genre folders with simple naming of Artist - Song.ext.

Thanks though for the info @@PenkethBoy I think I might have known this in the past.

It is more than likely that I decided to just live with the lack of, or wrong, info in Emby rather than redo my entire library naming system as I would have to change the players in my cars (MXVideoPlayer) and other mobile devices whose players do not have internet data sorting and rely on the ability to press and hold a genre folder and say "Shuffle All".

I could manage two libraries of the same files, I suppose, but thats borderline crazy :)

When importing:

Tape Five - Step Into My Time Machine

I get:

And the issue is?

That image says the song is Killer Bee - Step Into My World, not Tape Five - Step Into My Time Machine. I was just showing my results with my naming not matching the requirements is all. It's not the right song and I would have thought there would be more metadata about the song there. Kind of like how Music does.

have you named it correctly - i.e. without the artist name

and do you have the imvdb plugin loaded?

the "song" name must match exactly whats on imvdb to get a proper match etc

and you are using a MV type library

and you have setup your metadata downloaders correctly

Yes to all of the above (aside from the naming, which I said would be problematic to change) thats all. No issue. Rules state my naming must follow certain rules and mine dont. I had just forgotten the naming rules were so restrictive is all :)

We don't really do much parsing for music video files names, rather you have to use the metadata editor to enter the artist and/or album names.

Sorry, are you saying this is the required layout or simply one that works?

Thanks

been working for me for many months on both Beta and Stable

I dont include the artistname in the MV file name as thats already part of the path

Other ways may well work

@@PenkethBoy Can you please share a screenshot of your Music Videos displayed within Emby beta? I'm curious as to the more functional layout.

MV home page has two tabs

Videos - all videos - similar to movies

Folders - folders view - depends how you have your videos organised as to how many levels you have

both have sorting/filtering options

Its not a major change but Luke has said more functionality will come in time
