ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Hi, Thanks for software Hope you're well As a user[r], when I create a content type library (e.g. home video & photo), I want to config a library default image type so I don't have to manually update the UI for every series/show #Help #Question If documentation exists then feel free to link me else can something on this topic be added to the documentation? If you're reading this and: a) agree, then please up-vote and/or reply +1, or; disagree, then I'd love to know why? Luke 42079 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Hi, a default image type for where exactly?
ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 (edited) Thanks for reply Screen shot: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Z_zK7B5pwErKF_UOkkFeDSvQ8xwLzheO Hope to hear back Cheers Edited October 16, 2018 by ldexterldesign
Happy2Play 9781 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Sorry but what was that gif suppose to show? Are you wanting to change the image that is provided in My Media (small) library view? If so there is current no way to change it.
ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 Sorry but what was that gif suppose to show? Are you wanting to change the image that is provided in My Media (small) library view? If so there is current no way to change it. Thanks for reply Luke, posed the following question: > A default image type for where exactly ... so my GIF shows where Thanks
Happy2Play 9781 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Thanks for reply Luke, posed the following question: > A default image type for where exactly ... so my GIF shows where Thanks Sorry but you navigate to several different areas, to me the gif is not explaining what you are asking for. But since you mention Series, I will assume you mean a poster/folder image, you will need in every series folder as you are have to manually build almost all metadata for Home Video and Photo content type libraries.
Luke 42079 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Yea I don't quite understand the .gif, sorry. Can you explain a little bit more?
ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 (edited) The "l - video - web" library where I can select my image type is the pertinent section of the GIF (towards the end) so you can ignore everything before that if you like - I just included it for (navigation/architecture) context Hope this is clear(er) Cheers Edited October 17, 2018 by ldexterldesign
Happy2Play 9781 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 So what are you asking for as a different Image type display view? Those options present your media via those image types assuming they exist. Don't really understand what you are trying to accomplish.
Luke 42079 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 I'm afraid I don't quite understand as well.
ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 I want to use the "List" image type (i.e. UI view) for *everything* in my library. Currently *everything* uses "Primary" image type and I'm tired of changing it *everywhere* manually. Cheers
Luke 42079 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Ok I understand. The next release of the server will remember the selections. Thanks.
ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) Ok I understand. The next release of the server will remember the selections. Thanks. To my knowledge, unless I recreate the library (in which case the library is given the "primary" image type), the current release does remember selections - that's not my issue When I create a library I want control of the default image type (i.e. I want the "list" image type for every view in every item of that library) Use case: if I have a library with 100 items then I have to change the image type, manually, 100 times in each item to see the view I want Not sure how I be any clearer here Yours hopefully Edited October 18, 2018 by ldexterldesign
Luke 42079 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Hi, can you show a screenshot to demonstrate? Thanks.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 (edited) So when you create/add media library, you want a option to set this image type view to List? Even though every view/menu does not have a List option. Or some sort of global setting for all content libraries to show List image type view? Either way there is currently no way to do this, as they are a User preference views. User has to set them manually entering each library and choosing that image type view. ldexterldesign 10 Posted October 26, 2018 Author Posted October 26, 2018 (edited) Screen shot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rksGPQiNyv_yLExaUqZ7nBLEXG1daYVI/view> So when you create/add media library, you want a option to set this image type view to List? That's not what I'm asking for in this issue but it would be nice to have control over configuring the default settings (e.g. sorting / view type) for a library when I create it > Even though every view/menu does not have a List option Sure, I appreciate some library content types (e.g. "Movies", "TV") the image/view type is selected automatically but for others (e.g. "Audio", "Home videos & photos") it's not and currently I have to manually change this locally (i.e. per view) instead of globally > Or some sort of global setting for all content libraries to show List image type view? Yes, but not *all* libraries - if a library doesn't support a list image/view type (e.g. "Movies", "TV") then don't offer it as a configurable option - what libraries support what image/view types is a separate issue > Either way there is currently no way to do this, as they are a User preference views. User has to set them manually entering each library and choosing that image type view. Indeed, I'm asking for this UX to be enhanced: > Use case: if I have a library with 100 items then I have to change the image type, manually, 100 times in each item to see the view I want Users should be able to configure as many local (i.e. one-to-one) view settings (e.g. image/view type, sorting) globally (i.e. one-to-many) as possible Hope to hear back Cheers PS I would also suggest you unify the way you display settings (e.g. sorting / view type) between the content/library types - some use text and some use buttons/icons and there is >1 type of popup Edited October 26, 2018 by ldexterldesign

idef1x 0 Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) BUMP I have the same issue and is indeed very annoying. Especially for browsing through my Music folders (in folder view). I am using airsonic now for Music, since Emby is to annoying for this edit: By the way it't not for just windows...I am using Emby on Linux Edited March 17, 2019 by idef1x
brintal 0 Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 I also would very much appreciate such a feature. Currently I'm using Folder view for my music library (Home Screen -> Music Default Screen: Folder). The folder structure of my library on the filesystem: Music + artistA ++ albumA1 +++trackA1a ... When I open my Music Library in emby, all artists are shown correctly and I can change the "Image Type" to "List" in the folder settings. This setting is saved even if I restart emby... great! Now if I open a specific artist, I can also change the "Image Type" to "List" and it works as expected. BUT this setting only applies to this one specific folder (=artist). There is currently no option to apply this "Image Type" to all other artist folders. This would be indeed a very useful feature for people who organize their library on a folder basis rather than on ID3 basis.
