SparkBibo 1 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Hello I am new to Emby, have been using Plex for a long time, but I am tired of Plex handling of Metadata. I have a folder of Rifftrax movies that I have personally embedded all the metadata into each file. I would like to create a library that ONLY reads embedded metadata. Zero data pulled from websites. It looks like I should be able to do that in the options when setting up a Library, but then the library loads zero art. How do I set the Library settings to use local embedded metadata and load the embedded art? Thanks Andy 1
Carlo 4561 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Have you save the artwork to the local media folders?
SparkBibo 1 Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 No. The artwork is embedded in each video file with the other metadata. Plex, iTunes, and other media managers can read and see that artwork when they read the metadata.
Guest asrequested Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Have you looked in the library options? There's an option to prefer embedded titles.
SparkBibo 1 Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 Yes, that option appears to change how it shows the Title of the movie. For example, if you have a video named "Scorpion_King_1080.m4v" instead of showing the Title as "Scorpion_King_1080" it will read the embedded Title and use that. So if you have the Title embedded as "Scorpion King" it will show that in the video browser.
Luke 42081 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Make sure the screen grabber image provider is enabled. 1
Stephen49 5 Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 Where is this "screen grabber image provider" located? I know this thread is old and outdated. I have the same issue SparkBibo above. ExPlex user with metadata and images in the video file (.mp4). I had been using the system default even though I still update each new video file with artwork and metadata using macOS iFlicks. Now that Im adding 4k material, which plays great on my Apple TV 4K and Big screen TV. So I edit the Primary image to the 4k version using the "Search for new Image" option. I can't seem to lock the image either. So if the video file gets moved like into a folder for that movie the image is defaulted back the the original that I had replaced. If there is a better way to get the primary image and metadata from the .mp4 file or to manully lock down Primary image and edited metadata please direct me to the process. The emby guide is outdated and needs to be updated the metadata manager material is for a different version. I'm using Ubuntu 4.6.7.0. I can't find refresh images anywhere on the manager. Still Emby-server is orders of magnitude better than Plex! I would be nice if some more 4k tools were generated to support the higher resolution. File naming support and Movie Splash page with the Video codec 4k: HEVC HDR are great starters. Getting the correct Primary image would help. I realize that may pose a harder solution, at least having one lockdown for a file (Images and metadata) would be a great enhancement. I thought I read that a Beta version with some image and metadata fixes are in the works. I hope it can resolve some of my issues. Thank you for any assistance you can provide me. @cayars 1
Carlo 4561 Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Screen grabber is one of the options you setup per library. What you're seeing with a 1080 and 4K movies is called Multi-version movies. When 2 or more files are combined in the UI you have a drop down that allows you to choose the version to play. However, all meta-data is shown from the first movies. So if the 1080 version is the first or position 1 of the set this is what you see on screen. So obviously any changes you made to the 4K version won't be shown. More information on multi-versions can be found in this knowledge base article. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming
